Billy was fantastic for this show and this role
Well deserved best actor Tony
have an incredible time.
if i was in NY, I would be there.....
^ He has left several times temporarily to do other projects (or to do a small stint on the tour in his hometown of Pittsburgh). However, he is now officially leaving for good to do Shuffle Along.
well, did anyone go? I can only imagine how emotional Porter must have been. Wish I could have been there tonight.

I was there.... and in spite of a lot of tickets not being sold yet earlier in the week, it was sold out. Lots of friends were there....Cyndi Lauper, Jerry Mitchell, Stark Sands were in the audience. Lots of people obviously there for his last night but still the people next to me just got tickets to a show and had no idea about the show or who Billy Porter even was.
Lots of applause throughout the show. As someone mentioned in another thread, Billy's curtain speech is on line. Jerry also spoke... not sure that is on line too. Loved how Billy literally took off his boots and symbolically gave them to Wayne Brady.
Also loved when Billy and Andy came out for their final bow, Andy refused his bow and just pushed Billy to the front. Lots of eye dabbing on stage..from Andy and others.
So glad I was there, I saw Billy's opening night, the night after the tony awards and final night as well (and a few in between...LOL)

I was there. It was a great night. The standing ovation after "Hold Me in Your Heart" was immediate, and it went on for at least two minutes. There was definitely an interesting mix of Kinky Boots / Billy Porter fans and people who had no idea what was going on.
Porter's final HOLD ME IN YOUR HEART is available. And it's stunning.
