Did you ever leave your home before cell phones? I'm SURE that someone other than yourself could "help" your family in a true emergency. 911 for example? It's astonishing how many people these days think that they are essential to the survival of mankind!

Finally saw it, and it’s excellent. You may have to be Jewish to fully get all the nuances of the characters, but maybe I’m wrong. Beautifully written with humor, compassion, and insight from all sides of the argument. This one will stay with me for a while.

This was a 10/10 meal of a play for me. It’s so rare to have an idea play also be a sitcom and a character study, and this somehow nails all three. And one of the more “well, I didn’t see that coming” third act twists I’ve ever seen that I was worried would derail the whole evening, but they landed the plane spectacularly. Excellent performances, excellent direction.
Side-note: I cannot imagine Abbi Jacobson as Izzy or Molly Bernard as Alona, so the casting really worked out for the best. Abbi and Zoe Winters playing lifelong best friends would have looked like twins.

I thought this was pretty damn brilliant.
It's a beautifully complex character and political study. It's rare that a playwright pulls one off, let alone two, but both are pulled of here. I also never felt the length -- it speeds along its runtime and by the end I was actually thinking "I'd spend another 3 hours with these characters right now if I could." The dialogue is fantastic (sans the first 10 minutes which has some rather cringe "old man writes how he thinks young people talk" dialogue), the politics are clear without being grandstanding or shoehorned, and it's wonderful at intertwining modern Jewish culture with regular everyday life. It's early, but I think that this one should be in the conversation for a Pulitzer nomination this year.

I was a bit more split on the play but not on the actors and production which are solid.
