I saw it in NY in 2009, and it was worth it just for Angela Lansbury's performance.

It still is, brldisteach2! I might try going back once more before the run ends.

Was the house half-empty as you feared?

We were far house left in the front orchestra. Orchestra looked about 80% filled. Front of mezz looked filled - couldn't really see much of balcony, though most of what I could see looked empty. Most of the boxes were empty. It's a shame the Music Center doesn't have one more theatre inbetween the intimate Mark Taper, the large Ahmanson and the massive Dorothy Chandler. A 1000 seater would be perfect for this play. Whatever, I'm done whining about it. I'm just so glad I saw this brilliant performance.

It seems to be selling very well in its final weeks here. Just got hottix. They are those horrid box seats. But you can't beat the $25.00 price. It was that or $40.00 balcony seats.

Wow! You are right! Only a few seats left and tickets go as high as $175. I guess everyone in LA waited to see it. What. A. Surprise.

"I guess everyone in LA waited to see it."

A lot of people were just out of town during the holidays. Subscribers leave and this is not a theater town like New York where the people that do visit come to go to the theater.

That makes a lot of sense. Nice to hear it's selling well now. I've never sat in the boxes, but it didn't look like the view would be that bad from them. Am I mistaken, Dame? Our HotTix were just a few rows back in the orchestra, on the aisle. Thankfully, with most of the action staged fairly centrally, we hardly missed a thing.

Usually Hottix are either those extreme side orchestra aisle seats or Box Seats. I prefer the aisle seats. But those are all gone. With the box seats you have to lean front to see because they are to the extreme side. But fortunately we got the mezzanine box seats as opposed to the balcony box seats where you really only get a side view of the top of their heads. I am just glad to be in the building. I saw her do it a few years ago and I just want to be able to see her again.

With Blithe Spirit closing in a few short days at the Ahmanson in Los Angeles, KPCC, the local NPR station, repeated this interview with Angela Lansbury today. The interview once again shows the amazing range of her career beginning in the 40's, and her charm, professionalism and character radiate in this interview.

Saw the play over the weekend and while it was not a WOW piece of theater, I enjoyed it nevertheless. It was a thrill to see Angela but it was really the other actors led by Charles Edwards that carried the show. It was also nice to hear Christine Ebersole singing the interludes sounding very much like they were of the period.

Thanks, StageDoor. Missed that full interview the first time it aired. Remarkable woman. I had some friends in town last week who wanted to see the show, but the full priced tix were a bit rich for everyone's blood. Glad I got to see it for just $25 before the holidays. But it's nice to see it's selling so well now.

Just got back from the Ahmanson. What a super show!
Great performances across the board.
But Angela Lansbury…oh, Angela…she is, quite simply, an icon.
She is just so great in everything she does, so natural on the stage, and such an impressive force of "theatrical" nature.
I am so glad I got the chance to see her before it leaves L.A.!

Saw it the final weekend in Los Angeles, and thought it fantastic. Lansbury is as superb as she was in New York and has made a few entertaining changes and additions to her performance. The other three leads do their roles quite differently from the New York actors, but are just as good in their own ways. The play really holds up.

Blithe Spirit became the best-selling play revival at the Ahmanson in over 25 years: https://www.broadwayworld.com/los-angeles/article/Angela-Lansbury-Led-BLITHE-SPIRIT-Becomes-Best-Selling-Play-Revival-at-the-Ahmanson-in-Over-25-Years-20150129

Huge congratulations to the production team, the cast and of course the great Dame herself! She deserves all the respect and success that comes her way.

Amazing how despite the fact that Dame Angela hasn’t appeared on TV in over 10 years and has only made only 2 movies in the past 30 years she can still attract massive audience all around the world to see her live on stage. At 89 no less.

Saw it in SF last night. Great production. Ms Lansbury was impeccably delightful, but the rest of the cast deserves mention as well. A true delight of a production that was effortlessly entertaining. I'll treasure memories of last night for years to come.

I'm debating about seeing it in SF. I hate the Golden Gate theater though. I don't know if I want to spend the money and the show ends tomorrow.

Saw the play on Saturday evening with a friend (who got tickets the last minute) and we both loved it. I though Angela Lansbury was wonderful (although that's not really surprising). I was surprised about how much she moved around on stage, she is 89 years old. Very impressive!

However I think kudos needs to also go to the rest of the cast. It is hard not to be overshadowed by Lansbury but I thought the entire cast was fantastic. I especially loved the performances of Charles Edwards as Charles and Susan O'Connor who played Edith. Edwards signed my playbill which I was very happy about it (although it did smear a little bit).

Anyways I am very happy I got to experience Lansbury on stage since I am pretty sure she said this will be her last tour.. It is also my first time seeing a Coward play live. I've been a fan of his for awhile and always wanted to see a performance and this was very special.

I saw it last weekend. Great show all around! Such a treat to see Angela Lansbury live, though everyone else who worked on the play was clearly very talented.

I saw the tour when it was in Toronto just this past month. Highly recommended! I' saw Blithe Sprit at Stratford a few years back and it was good, but This production with Ms. Lansbury was awesome! The entire run in Toronto was almost completely sold out. I had a really hard time exchanging my subscription tickets cause the show was selling so well.

Just go. I saw it in Los Angeles a few months ago and it was wildly entertaining; which I actually did not expect. AND, you'll be able to say you saw Angela Lansbury live...

As someone else posted, it is amazing how much physicality there is to Angela's part. I'm embarrassed to say that I tried to replicate one of her "dance" moves to some colleagues at work and I fell over...

^That is an awesome story.

I saw her on the 21st here in DC and I've never felt such buzz in a theatre beforehand. I was lucky to be second row and I was in awe of the entire cast. The biggest standout to me besides Lansbury was Charlotte Parry as Ruth. I couldn't take my eyes off of her, for some reason! And Susan Louise O'Connor was brilliant as Edith. Speaking of stories… I've definitely tried picking things up from the back of a chair like she did at one point in time.

The play was hilarious and extremely entertaining. I actually had a lot of fun just looking at the people around me and seeing how enamored they were to witness Lansbury on stage. I think that in itself was worth going. And seeing a bunch of 50+ year olds rush to the stage door. I will totally be one of those people when I'm older. It was a great night of theatre!

It played its last performance Sunday at 2pm. I saw the Wednesday matinee last week and thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was the seventh time I've seen Ms. Lansbury on stage and as always she didn't disappoint. At 89 years young she didn't miss a beat or flub a line. Sitting in the first row I noticed tears welling up in Ms. Lansbury's eyes as audience members shouted BRAVO! at her curtain call. Not sure if it's her age, her legendary status or the fact that she's one of a kind but I found the moment truly touching.
