Saw the original cast of "Wicked," and thought I would never be going back, but I just saw that Stephanie J. Block will be taking over in New York some time in October. A Chicago friend raved about Block when he saw her there, and insists that I make a return visit after she takes over. One thing--seats only start showing up for "Wicked" in February 2008. So, fellow board members, does anyone out there know if Block's contract goes through February 2008? I am always amazed at what you all know--so I am waiting to be amazed again with the details of Ms. Block's "Wicked" contract!
There is already a thread on this. I saw Block in Denver in Wicked. Wasn't really impressed with her performance.

Anyone know when SJB is taking off for her wedding? (I"ve searched but couldn't find anything concrete)
The box office is clueless about her time off as well at the moment. When I find out I'll post.
TheGoat - If she's out before February (and she very well may be) your only options for tickets are to go through a broker, try your luck at the lotto, or make a day of it and try to be one of the first in the cancellation line. Good luck, I hope you get to see her!

It's not possible that seats don't start showing up for Wicked until February. I just looked up the show I'm going to and there are still EXCELLENT orchestra seats available.
Tues, Jan 8th.
Are January 6th (Steph's final) and January 8th (Lea's first) confirmed yet? If so, I need to get my tickets now...for both performances.
I'm working on finding out her and Sebastian's time off for you guys. One step at a time WAT, one step at a time LOL
LOL. Sorry, Popular. I have to see Steph in this role at least two more times...and I'm a sucker for first and last performances.
Such a softie you are, Without. =)

Well...if it's not Lea's first performance, it will be Carolee's first performance on the 8th.
No need to see Wicked twice in 3 days though!
I saw Block in Wicked in Chicago and thought she was wonderful. I would see it again with her if I could.
I saw the production in Chicago last summer and can't remember if she (Stephanie) was there at the time. Does anyone know the dates of her run?
Last summer she was getting ready for rehearsals to take PQ to Chicago.

Jersey_Girl- she wouldn't have been there then. Julia was in the tour then, and it didn't go to Chicago with her. You saw whoever was in the sitdown production at that time.
Stephanie is a great Elphaba. She was the first one I saw, and I have to say not many can compare. It is definitely worth making another visit to Wicked. Eden is an exception. Is Lea confirmed for Elphaba? She seems really young for Elphaba. And, in my opinion, while she has a beautiful voice, it is too sweet for Elphaba.
Just my two cents, I saw Stephanie perform the role in Chicago and thought she was lovely. I just bought tickets today to take a friend in a couple weeks.

OK, so I actualy know whats going on....
-Block will be with WICKED through MARCH. She is not leaving in January.
-Lea IS NOT even being considered for Elphaba at this moment. She was not offered a contract or anything for the future, as of right now.
-Don't know wher you heard Carolee was coming in for Elphab?? I dont think so.
and my opinon on Block: She is amazing! Best Elphie yet (I think). I would go and see her again. Annaleigh wa very good as well. Well there ya go. Oh and for reference,my info is backed by Ms. Block. Thanks.
Not to threadjack, but have they had a cast change on the tour? I thought I heard that Victoria Matlock was finishing up her run a couple of weeks ago.

Carmen Cusack, the current Chicago stand-by, will be taking over for Victoria Matlock as Elphaba on tour...I forget who Glinda will be, and I haven't heard anything about the rest of the cast. But I know that much lol.

The Glinda will be Katie Adams (former Glinda standby on Broadway).
Katie Adams is going back into the Broadway company as the standby for Glinda again once Alli Mauzey departs for Cry-Baby, which I believe is happening very soon (as Katie is already in re-rehearsal.)
Katie Clarke (who played Clara Johnson in The Light in the Piazza both on Broadway and on tour) will succeed Christina DeCicco as the tour's new Glinda.
