I'm looking for books on the Rodgers and Hammerstein shows.

I am waiting on my copy of Ethan Mordden's R&H coffee table book, but is there something else? I'm thinking that i'd would have to venture into separate biographies for Rodgers and Hammerstein.

I went searching thinking: how hard can this be?  But really, what a dearth of availability!

 

I did find this,  but can't vouch for how good it might be.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'd buy it!

Read Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. It's a slim volume but it tells you a lot about what he was trying to accomplish.

If you are only interested in books, this won't be helpful, but I love the documentary "Richard Rodgers: The Sweetest Sounds" which I have on DVD. The first half is about Rodgers and Hart and the second half is about Rodgers and Hammerstein. I learned a lot and there was some wonderful old footage.

absolutely jaw dropping there are not written biographys of the great rodgers and hammerstein. Ill buy the new book for sure.
