Okay, no luck with the Boston Wicked lottery. About 30something people showed up. A group of older people all won (hmmm...give a chance to the student who really can't afford full price tickets). Also, they let the same 10 year old girl pick the entries...and she picked her whole family (2 people/4 tickets)...how ironic. I was a little angry at this, but there's nothing you can do about it. Even if she did look, whatever. Just coming here to vent...that's the way the cookie crumbles. Was anyone else there?

How many hours before the show do you have to get there?

2.5 hours...so for a 7:30 show, get there at 5 pm and they start taking names...and they draw at 5:30. You go to BU, right? Do you want to try going a bunch of nights? Lol.

I was there as well and no luck. While I don't begrudge the older patrons winning (everyone deserves a chance) it was sort of strange to see three seperate groups, and almost everyone in each group winning. Their chances were obviously greater, but leaves the single people sort of out of luck.

Did anyone but me see Stephen Schwartz waltz right past the crowd and into the theatre?

I'm just happy to hear that there is a lotto. I'm on break now, but when I get back to school, I'm lottoing quite a bit.

There's a 1:00 p.m. performance tomorrow - assuming that there's a lotto for that one, maybe the students will have a better shot since some older people at least will be at work.

thats crazy there were only 30 people there...i won the one in cincy but there was easily 200 people at all except the first and second lottery.

I figured...hey no one knows about the lottery really, so I'll give it a chance. I have tickets to the show actually, but they are on the side mezz. Again, I was a little angry at the older patrons winning, however, you're correct: everyone deserves a chance. And it was odd about all the "groups" winning....the family and the older people.

woooo i won lottory tonight!! it was fantastic...julia is just incredible
yes stephen schwartz was there...we saw him at the stage door afterwards and he was gracious enough to sign and take pictures with those who wanted them. He is a very kind individual.
Oh and julia murney is probably my favorite elphaba. EVER.

The seats were partial view...like I think it started off AA, BB, CC, and so on.

Sarah, were you in one of the first group of people there, and you were gonna sell the Row L ticket? I was like the fourth one there with the brown hair and turquoise capris. That was me who ran up to you because I was interested, but didn't have $90 on me...did that Indian guy end up buying it from you lol?

Well, I have tickets anyway for end of April, plus I'll try lottery like every day. Glad you enjoyed the show.

Excuse me, but what is with the assumption that 'older people' (who are what, by the way, anyone over 21?) have more disposable cash than students? I'm sorry, but many students I know are getting a free ride - it's the parents that are paying for everything that need the break.

And yes, I KNOW that not everyone has that advantage - and that's exactly my point.

The Broadway in Boston ticket system is odd. They wanted me to become a member for $30 for a chance at prime seats.
I just went to the box office last week and scored row A for Movin Out in May without spending the $30. I dont get it.

The "older people" were at least in their 50s or 60s (dip into their retirement fund, lol...jk)...yes they had every right to lotto, but your assumption that students are getting a "free ride" isn't true for everyone. As a student myself, I have VERY little money to spend. I am responsible for paying back loans. The students that possibly are getting the "free ride" are the ones with rich mommies and daddies.

Millie - I said specifically in my post that I know not everyone has that advantage. You're making an INCREDIBLE leap by assuming that people do or do not have money based on their age - there is NO correlation between the two whatsoever.

Right, but who would you think has more money...the average college student or people in their 50s/60s who most likely have worked their whole lives?

Dont students have access to Student Rush. I know I saw ads in the Boston Phoenix that non-students didnt have a chance at. I think it all equals out.
