I'm confused, it's one thing for Playbill to have been misinformed but how was it posted on Bundys OWN website? Wouldn't that have been Bundy starting the rumour herself? Just curious. Also, I'm not feeling as gracious now that someone mentioned it so... Amy spanger was the "worst choice" I was trying not to refer to, in an earlier post. I like LBB but I'm afraid this is too much too soon and am not that surprised they gave the role to a more seasoned professional. And before anyone starts about her "stand-by" position, bear in mind, it is just that.
well good for her :) I saw her in both Footloose and Urinetown, and I thought she was great. I actually didn't want to see Laura in Wicked, but I would like to see Jennifer in it.
"I never saw her in Urinetown, but according to the cast album, she has a wonderful soprano (I don't know her full range)."
She was on the cast recording? When I saw the show it said she was filling in for the original lead, so I'm confused. lol I will have to go check the names on that cast album.
She kind of has a "Glinda-esque" look about her though. As long as she can do some kind of justice to the part, itll be ok.

For all the people worried about her haircolor: they do have things called wigs!
duh...
She was the original lead in both Footloose and Urinetown, so I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. If Thompson was ever miscast, it was as Ariel in Footloose. Awful role for her.
Ohhh okay, maybe I just misread something. Oh no, you know what, lol I'm an ass. I forgot, she wasn't in Urinetown one day when I saw it...her understudy was on. But the understudy was very good. haha Jennifer was there another time I saw it. I saw it so late in the run I couldn't remember which one was the original lead. :P

Opposite to popular posts on here LBB WAS offered the role it was in her contract (great agent) that she had first refusal. Negotiations could not be worked out and LBB passed. As i have heard the producers did not want her, and she was also looking at other options. I also heard Jennifer sang the S%!$ out of the songs at her auditon. I am happy to see her take on this role. I did not care too much for her in footloose, but WOW in Urinetown. Here is too a new star in the making... YAY!

I really liked Laura when I saw her last month, but I'm looking forward to seeing Jennifer! Loved her in Urinetown.
I think it's a terrific choice!

I still think that Laura Bell Bundy would have been the best choice . She passed and has other things in the works.
LBB is a wonderful person and I wish her the best of Luck! She is friendly and nice to everyone she meets! Go LBB!
Good Luck to the New Glinda!
why dont they just rename the show WICKLOOSE...all we need now is for Kushner to play Bac and we're set. The entire OBC of footloose is in the ensemble lol.
I liked her in Footloose and loved her in Urinetown (someone said they liked Spanger better, when I thought Spanger was dreadful and forced but JLT I loved) and I think its an excellent choice for Glinda because the last thing you want is someone who is going to be a Kristin clone. Thankfully, JLT is going to make it her own.
"...all we need now is for Kushner to play Bac and we're set."
Do you mean Kushnier and Boq?
Jeremy Kushnier would be a great Fiyero, rather. IMO.

LBB DID NOT PASS...SHE ASKED FOR TOO MUCH $$. WE WISH HER WELL.
Before I choose to believe that, do you have any proof?

Proof starred Mary Louise Parker.
There is really no need for that. If you don't have an appropriate answer, please don't respond with such a rude and sassy answe.
A reply like that would be better if just ignored, don't bother fueling it. Pretend its not even there.
Thank you for the advice. I guess I just get annoyed, and want reasoning for it.
This girl they picked totally doesn't look Glinda esque. Her features are very uhhh... masculine. She seems more of a Elphaba type but oh well
Jennifer Laura Thompson? Masculine? No, not at all. She was the perfect ingenue in Urinetown, and she's a very girly girl offstage, and delightfully wacky and offbeat. I like Laura Bundy a lot, but Jennifer Laura Thompson is a great choice.
Oh, NYU....the picture you saw must have given a faulty impression. In person, JLT really doesn't come across masculine, at all. And while I have a difficult time imagining her as Elphaba, I can picture her as a terrific Glinda. Vocally, she is certainly up to the role, and she is capable of a great, quirky delivery, based on what I saw her do in Urinetown (five times...). Come to think of it, her Hope Cladwell voice was sort of bubble-worthy, too. She's a solid actress with good comedic timing who works well in an ensemble. I think she's an inspired choice for the role...one that might possibly get me to revisit Wicked, despite my pronouncement yesterday that I was never going back.
"Wickloose", that's funny Amneris! It's very early here so I can barely see the posts but, I'm with Daphnerocks. No, I have no proof but I don't believe for one SECOND that LB "passed". A woman who has only one big musical credit, for which she received very lukewarm notices (Hairspray), is in NO postion to "pass" on one of the hottest roles around. It's not like she'd be the 14th replacement. And Marcy Marc, clearly her agent is not that "great". If I was her agent,(and I've been one, so I think I know what I'm talking about), I would have never let her pass. Which makes it obvious that there was something else involved entirely. All that said, Thompson is a better choice for reasons I have previously discussed in this thread. I'm off to the gym. You do that at UNGODLY hours here in la la land.
Edited for spelling, I told you I could barely see.
