That song from Merrily We Roll Along that Bernadette Peters always sings that always reduces me to tears...what's the name of it?

I was like where is burn? Everyone is hamilton obsessed these days? Then I figured out that it was from 2008.

I appoligise for any spelling mistakes. I may be on my mobile. Clumsy fingers and small little touchscreen keys don't mixx. I try to spellcheck, but I may miss something.

You need to listen to Carly Simon's CD, TORCH. She does a beautiful version of Sondheim's "Not A Day Goes By"...and there are other treasures, too.

I love that CD, too!

Carlos Alberto said: "That song from Merrily We Roll Along that Bernadette Peters always sings that always reduces me to tears...what's the name of it?" and "Oh yes...Not A Day Goes By. God that song KILLS me."

..and staying on the Sondheim theme, I didn't appreciate "Losing My Mind" from Follies when I first heard it in my 20s. I thought it was numbingly repetitive - like a list. "I do X and think about you..." "I do Y and think about you..." blah, blah, blah...

Then, some 30 or so years later, I was in a really dark depression and literally found myself standing, in my apartment, "in the middle of the floor. Not going left. Not going right." The physical realization of those lyrics moved me. The dull, numbing lists made complete sense.

Which brings up a similar example of lists: "Time Heals Everything".

"There's a Fine Fine Line" from Avenue Q:

"You can't take that away from me" (Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers from Shall We Dance & Barkleys of Broadway) This is a personal favorite of mine... such a bittersweet song:

Every alternate song from The Last Five Years.

Depends on the take of the song, but Losing My Mind from Follies is very poignant and can be painful.

Megan Hilty singing "I'm Not That Girl (Reprise)" from Wicked makes me cry too. And this is not a showtune, but her album had an excellent break-up song.

Let's see... Days And Days from Fun Home is another great one.
