I think the only thing that will get me to buy a ticket is if Brian d'Arcy James plays Jean Valjean.
A part of me really wants to see Rowan Atkinson play Thenardier...
I think he would be very reminiscent of Alun Armstrong, which isn't a bad thing

Exactly what I was thinking! And I'm actually listening to him in OLIVER! right now. He'd be a perfect Thenadier!

I heard Alfie Boe is in the talks for Valijean. Really, though, I'd love to see Brian FINALLY get a Tony. He'd be a great Valijean!

If they get Andrea Martin and Terrence Mann to play the Thenardiers, I'm definitely going up to NY to see this! I loved them both in Pippin. She could definitely do some funny stuff with the role. And when I saw the "Do you hear the people sing" Boublil-Schonberg concert, Terrence Mann did sing "Master of the house" (his Madame for that number being no less than the great Stephanie J. Block!) and he was hilarious! It would be interesting to see him make the change from the serious Javert to the more comical Thenardier.

@disneybroadwayfan: I'd love to see Brian finally take home a Tony too. Most may disagree with me, but I truly beleive he should've gotten the Tony for Shrek.
Jackie Hoffman as Madame!

Ah, the Les Mis talent recycling continues. Alfie Boe and Terrence Mann. While I respect these two performers greatly and I am sure they'd be wonderful, I just can't help but feel irritated that the producers bring back people who have already performed in the show. I'd really like to see some different actors and actresses. I think deep down when I hear that producers are rehiring people, I assume the producers are also resting on what they think works in the show and just putting the same show out there again rather than rethinking things, seeking fresh perspectives, and really revisiting the material. And that's deeply frustrating to me.

I'm not against reusing actors that have done this show before. But like I suggested, I'd like to see them in a different role. Like when Lea Salonga came back and switched from Eponine to Fantine and the original Broadway Cosette, Judy Kuhn came back to also play Fantine. Lots of guys have switched from Marius to Valjean or Javert to Valjean. It makes things interesting, in my opinion. And I do like the suggestion of Jackie Hoffman as Madame. Although I'd really love to see Jackie Hofmann replace Andrea Martin as Berthe in Pippin. I think she'd be a hilarious sexy grandma.
Alfie Boe's been pretty much a given as the new Broadway Valjean ever since he lost the movie role to Hugh Jackman. It's Cameron Mackintosh's consolation prize to him.
I'd love to see Hugh Laurie as Thenardier.
I don't know if it's just my opinion, or is Sierra Boggess as Fantanine a given too?
^^I think most likely that producers will aim for Sierra for a big name and experience. So, it is possible
Alun Armstrong was WONDERFUL as Monsieur T. The late Richard Griffiths would have been perfect, too. Sigh!
