Interesting thing about Les Miz- I saw the first national tour in Boston on opening night with J. Mark McVey was Valjean- I thought at the time it was the greatest show I'd ever seen (I was only 19) and I still think that. Exciting, pulse pounding- just spectacular.
I liked it so much I saw it again a few months later in New York. What a disappointment!! There was NONE of the excitement, it just wasn't as good on any level.
Then I went yet again a few years ago with that RENT girl/SMASH publicist playing Fantine and thought it was horrible.
And the movie sucked.
So... what am I to think? Is there any way it can be as good as it was that night in Boston?

It was the second time it came to Boston, in 1989. Susan Dawn Carson played Fantine.

Are they going for the production of the current national tour or do a completely new one?

"My Les Miserables DREAM CAST ~
Jean Valjean: Hugh Jackman
Inspector Javert: Russell Crowe
Fantine, the whore: Anne Hathaway
Madame Thernardier, inn-keeper's wife: Helena Bonham Carter
Thernardier, slimy inn-keeper: Sacha Baron-Cohen
Enjolras, sexy revolutionary: Adam Tveit
Bishop of Digne: Colm Wilkinson
Marius, another sexy revolutionary: Eddie Redmayne
Eponine, pathetic & sad street urchin: Samantha Barks
Cosette, Fantine's illegitimate child: Amanda Seyfried
I am PRAYING to the THEATER GODS this comes to fruition!!"
My God, you may have come up with the WORST LM cast Ever!!! No one would ever go see that, much less PAY for it, because Samantha Barks' two songs won't make up fit Hugh talking the entire time.
Oh. Wait. The movie was a huge success, wasn't it? I guess you need a star to headline, no matter if they can actually play the role. American Theatre is dead.

"Isn't it hard for West End/foreign actors to be on Broadway on account of Equity having a huge stick up their ass or did I just make that up"
Equity is racist.

Enough with the dream casting. Any insider info on who is actually being considered? I imagine Varela has been offered to reprise his Javert on Broadway.

Why are people (namely broadway guy) SCREAMING on here? Also, I ask again. Why are we throwing out a bunch of random names of actors. I'm with Distinctive on this one

What is your problem? You got here this week and all you have been saying is "Why is this happening" or " this looks dumb" and other stupid crap. People do dream casts because its fun, obviously we know we have no say on who gets cast..its just for fun and some people have really good ideas. Personally i don't think you are worthy of Liza's headband..

I'm hoping Cats, A Chorus Line, and Gypsy will all open next season, too!
Then we'll all really have something to celebrate!
Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1989!

Maybe not. Probably not, actually. I am just a curious person. Can't I ask questions? I saw you were screaming and just wanted to figure out what all the noise was about. Don't pick on Liza's headband!

What an inventive screen name you have there. Maybe I should change mine to something as equally creative like:
Shirley Temple's Curls
or
Kirk Douglas' Cleft Chin
or
Judy Garland's Pill Bottle
or
Audra McDonald's Tonys
or
Jon Hamm's Crotch

Let them bring it back, more work for the actors, and crew. If it is bad, the ticket purchases will put an end to it for sure. Just hope it is decently done
