It is probably completely unrelated to his accident on last year's Tonys, but it is a little eyebrow-raising. Thoughts/expertise?

Thankfully he is stable now. When I first read about it he was in critical condition. But now it looks like he's going to be okay.
If anything, Bret is a fighter. Jokes aside, he has been through a lot in his life personally and professionally and I hope he makes a quick recovery.

Looks like the fingers may start to point to the Tony accident. Donald Trump is already stating it...

The latest news is that he's basically been sedated into a coma-like state and that doctors cannot find the source of the bleed.
Some Doctor on EXTRA is saying that 11 months later his accident at the Tonys is unlikely to be a factor. (We get EXTRA a day behind so this aired yesterday)
^ I would think a brain bleed from the Tony's would have happened sooner. Donald really isn't bringing up anything new. fingers were already pointing to that incident. but of course he is so****sure of himself.
Wasn't Bret upset when that happened that the Tony organnization didn't seem to care too much about it? I thought I read some report about that.
anyway, i hope they find what they need to soon.

It may not be the direct cause, but it probably didn't help.
5 years ago I suffered a serious head injury and 5 months later I began experiencing symptoms of vertigo (i.e. lightheadedness, imbalance, nausea) and the doctors concluded that there may have been a link. A sort of delayed reaction.
That explains so much!

Yes, Piper, Bret said something to the effect of "If it had happened to Liza Minnelli, the Tony Committee wouldn't be shrugging it off."
they talked about the TONY accident on Access Hollywood tonight I believe (an old Bret interview) and he said he was very angry in the way the tony people handled everything. They basically blamed him and told him that if he didn't quote "miss his mark", none of his injuries would have happened. In this case, I am on his side. The tech crew saw he was going off that way and it could have been stopped.
That would explain years of alcohol, narcotic and nicotine abuse then....

It would have had a delay on the counterweight attached to the set piece. He would have hit it anyway. And it was his showboating that got him hurt. He was at rehearsal he knew the thing was going to come down.
Joy Bayard is talking about it now on her show. Donald Trump is STILL bringing up the Tony Awards incident as if he knows what he is talking about. That cute doctor from "The Dr's" pretty much shot Donald's theory down. Why they keep talking to Trump, I don't know. he was on The View saying the same thing and they showed it a few times.

I agree. He doesn't listen. I think he also basically said "it may not, but look at the huge hit he took" (paraphrasing) A bleed like that would not take eleven months to manifest like that is spot on. The "thunderclap" headache, etc is more like it. Donald was right about people not making it to the hospital. I have had friends die or have anyerisms (stomach, head and even after a routine tonselectomy) the kind from the blood not clotting is like a stroke. it happens so fast. a friend of mine died in child birth. it was a normal delivery and everything was fine and then bang it went so fast to her heart. devastating.
anyway, i wonder when joy's show is taped if there was a report of him being put in an enduced coma and on her show, she said he was communicating.
i don't think the prognosis is great to be honest.
also, to those who bring up the years of drug and alcohol abuse. really...there are people who do not get clean who go on for years and years...smoke a pack of day and drink like fishes and live to 90. he is clean. something like this can happen to anyone healthy or not at any time. also, with his diabetes he could not drink. i am not saying he was like dean martin who put apple juice in his drink to pretend he was drunk and i am sure there were party years. but honestly, you can't party like that and perform all the time. he may have had a short lived problem but i don't think it was decades of drugs and drink.
I am not surwe which show I was watching but they said that it could have been linked to the recent surgery he had. I could have caused a clot.
Poor guy. What a shame. piper, you mentioned that you don't think the prognosis is great. Do you think Bret might die from this?
^yes uncageg, that is true. he had an appendectomy a couple of weeks ago. blood clots can travel. i think that is why the correlation was made and it happens with other surgeries. i do not know how a clot from that area could cause a brain bleed but just knowing someone who had a stroke from a tonselectomy not cauterizing i can see where they were going.

i am being pessimistic sadly because no one is really talking from his medical team or actually putting out a statement. not that they have to, but brett has a lot of fans and i am sure they are aware they would want to know. there are bits and pieces coming out i don't think his doctors are speaking. there are opinions from other doctors though. i also think any brain injury of this magnitude is very serious. the brain is very elastic and it can repair itself quite fast in some cases, but when there is extensive damage from a bleed (which is what i think has happened here) i don't know. i cannot imagine Brett with slurred speech for the rest of his life and being changed. I think it would affect him too because he is so vibrant. There is also a reason they cannot operate. I hope I am not being too negative and he makes a full recovery. :)
Thanks for responding, Piper. I agree with you. They're being very cryptic with their updates.
