I want to get back to the anecdote about Elvis's career getting saved by taking the role of - I guess Tony - in West Side Story? Huh? Leaving aside how successful he would have been in the role, his film career certainly didn't die in the early 60s. In fact most of his movie successes - Viva Las Vegas et all - were after West Side Story. Not before it.
Still possible but unlikely Faith prince as sally or hattie in follies with sherie rene scott as phyllis they would be way more age approiate but given how great this cast is who can complain.
Brian Stokes Mitchell as Lawrence in DRS (He did the workshops)
Bea Arthur as Madame Morrible- now there's a "Wiiiiiicked Witch!" speech that would scare the hell out of all involved.
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
And as good as Donna Murphy was, I think Patti was superb casting as Fosca. And oh, if she could have avoided the SUNSET nightmare awaiting her...
I'm so glad Donna Murphy played her on Broadway, but I also wish Patti had done a longer run of Passion.
Another LuPone casting idea: I think she would've been incredible as Aldonza in Man of La Mancha.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I almost agree with madonna i think if she agreed to go to strenous acting and music training classes she would do great especially with maybe this time.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

YES why have I never thought of Patti as Aldonza?? That role fits her like a glove...
I'd actually love to see/to have seen Mandy Patinkin as Don Quixote/Cervantes, I think that he could have done some really great stuff with the role (even though he's technically a tenor).
Patinkin recorded the role of Sancho about twenty years ago, with Placido Domingo as Don Quixote/Cervantes and Julia Migenes as Aldonza/Dulcinea. I can't see him as Quixote at all, though.

I've been on a Man of La Mancha kick lately and was thinking she would have been perfect. Of course, if someone wants to mount a senior citizen revival, she could play Aldonza opposite George Hearn.

I'm sure it's been suggested dozens of times on these boards, but Sara Ramirez as Aldonza, anywhere, please.

Second Julia Murney as Diana in NEXT TO NORMAL. Also, Lisa Brescia as Diana in NEXT TO NORMAL. Lisa got offered the standby Diana track after Jessica Phillips left but took Donna in Mama Mia instead.
Billy Porter auditioned for The Baker for the Into the Woods revival. He said Sondheim said he had too much "pizazz" and had him audition for The Witch instead. His "Last Midnight" is BREATHTAKING. Ugh, it would have made the revival actually worth watching...
