Broadway Actors & Stage Managers of Scott Rudin Shows Released From NDAs

Broadway performers and stage managers who worked on four shows connected to producer Scott Rudin will be released from nondisclosure agreements under terms of a new settlement between the Broadway League and Actors’ Equity Association.

The NDAs, Equity says, prohibited the union members from speaking about potential workplace abuses.

The four productions mentioned in the agreement are To Kill a Mockingbird, West Side Story, The Iceman Cometh and The Lehman Trilogy..

The settlement – reached after the union withdrew two unfair labor practice complaints with the National Labor Relations Board – releases actors and stage managers in the four Rudin-connected productions from confidentiality, nondisclosure and non-disparagement agreements.

If people are hoping for "juicy" stories, I really don't expect much, except MAYBE a little more behind-the-scenes action re: West Side Story. But by most accounts, Rudin treated onstage talent exceptionally well (often paying folks more than they'd earn from other producers) and typically wasn't micromanaging them ala Mr. Drabinsky. Like with most other producers, notes flowed through the director, and usually he was working with some of the best directors in the biz.
