Just curious to see what everyone thought. Favorite/least favorite numbers?


I LOVED Bonnie Jean and September Song. A Weekend in the Country was a hot mess.

There were some big mic issues in this number (compared to the very few sound problems throughout the rest of the night) They also kept "the decrepit Desiree" line, for the sake of the rhyme, but it didn't make sense.

Kyle Dean Massey. They all sounded okay individually, well, except for Mo Brady, but when they came together, it was a trainwreck.

There had been an earlier reference to Tony Sheldon's character having been a drag queen named Desiree in the Stonewall days so it wasn't entirely out of left field.

Karen Ziemba tap dancing "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean" in a lesbian bar was probably my favorite. And, yes, Estelle Parsons with "September Song".

Thanks, Wildcat. I must have missed that. My friend and I hit the lottery of terrible seats. A row of talking and texting teenagers in front of us, a snoring guy next to me, and a weird guy who asked seriously weird questions (like "what does backwards mean?) on the other side. It's a wonder I was able to pay attention to anything.

My favorite was the dance piece Vespers. Brian Stokes Mitchell was great on The Man I Love too. What instrument was he playing so well?

Broadway Backwards is one of my favorite annual BCEFA events!

I loved Vespers. It didn't fit the "Backwards" part of the title, but was perfect for this particular show's overarching storyline. So intense and very moving.

Tony Sheldon and Jim Brochu did a great job with the story.

Titus Burgess was amazing and got the biggest ovation of the evening, but I am beyond tired of I Am Telling You at this point.

I enjoyed Bring On the Men for Josh Young and great ensemble eye candy.

Go Home With Bonnie Jean was just fun from beginning to end.

And I enjoyed How to Handle a Woman just because I am incapable of NOT enjoying Jan Maxwell.

She had a non-singing role as part of the evening's storyline playing Tony Sheldon's mother. Her character sent out invitations to her house in the Hamptons which led to the first act finale "A Weekend in the Country".

I would love to see the whole thing. The BWW Highlights reel is fascinating. I love the SJB solo! She's wonderful!

so glad you loved Jan as well. Her number wasn't the most memorable, but it was so heartfelt and sweet. It made the whole night totally worth it. When is she going to get another job?!?!

MCC's Miscast always outs theirs in YouTube. I never understood why BC/EFA doesn't do the same. Still hoping a video pops up at some point of last year's At The Ballet performance.
