I agree...I didn't Legally Blonde numbers were terrible. It's about the same or even up from the weeks before last week. Plus the theater is HUGE so fill 78% at the Palace is a lot different than 78% an most other theaters

how did grease not noticeably drop in average ticket price OR attendance, and yet take such a huge dip in grosses?

Because they played 9 performances last week, and only 7 this week. They sold 2311 more seats last week than this week. That's a lot, especially with premium price tickets.

I'm not concerned about any of the shows closing right now.

Yes, I agree some show's grosses are looking a bit tattered. But I think producers are well prepared for the January to March crunch and as long as their respective shows stay steady and at a decent level of profitability (and I think they will), I don't foresee any danger of major show closings in the next few months. LB, CURTAINS, and Rent are certainly in no danger. Xanadu is probably marginal, but I would still be surprised to see it close before spring. Now it's a case of being patient, sitting and waiting to see what happens, just like in any business that relies heavily on public support and their (the public's) economic burden.

Of course all of this hinges on the fact that I have been wrong before. re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 1/6/2008

I tried using "search" without success (probably due to inadequate technical acumen). But what's up with Young Frankenstein not releasing its numbers? And is there any scuttlebutt about its numbers?

"fillin 78% of the palace is diff. than filling 78% of another theater" - duh, BUT- because it's a bigger theater you'd be crazy to think they're lease doesnt' cost more than a smaller theater. It's all proportional, so you'd have to know all the facts to see if it's really doing decently. All I know is, it's rare a show can survive for too long if the attendance stays in the 70%'s.
