Poor Souvenir. And how much longer is In My Life going to hold on?
people were just talking about how much longer Rent had too, looks like they're doing pretty good!!!

Nice to see Color Purple cracking 90%.
And I see that holiday crowds weren't interested in seeing Souvenir, In My Life, or Seascape.
ok.....how can the average ticket price for WICKED be 105???? doesn't that seem like way too much for the AVERAGE????
oh no! what happened to The Woman in White???? Thanksgiving week was it's worst week so far.

Not really. Top regular ticket price is $100 (which covers all the orchestra and front mezz) and premium seats are $240 and there are no discounts so it's no surprise the average would be over $100.
Way to go Rent! Great news.
I expected SWEET CHARITY to do good over the Holiday ..
yay RENT! I'm curious to see what happens in the next few weeks
Note the jumps for Chitty, Movin' Out, and Fiddler. I assume that's because they are all closing soon.
Any chance Chitty might extend due to the demand?
Or because of the upcoming winter season, they are just trying to recoup losses.

I'm pretty sure once there's a closing notice, it's final.
SWEET CHARITY is already looking at the Hilton.
Chitty had better not extend...I already have great seats for the final performance.

Chitty is some $15 million in the hole -- there's NO WAY they'd extend because of one or two good weeks (they're still not sold out). This week's numbers barely make a dent in the outstanding loss. And they know better than to stay open into January through March, when nearly every show struggles. They'd lose another million on top of what they've already lost.
Fiddler for some reason has double-digit increases and decreases every other week. If the pattern continues they'll drop 20% next week and then jump 20% the week after.
Sorry to argue with you Margo, but I few weeks ago I read that Wicked, Spamalot, and some other shows raised or will raise their top ticket prices to $110. Also, during the holiday many shows increase their ticket prices.
In My Life appears to be on life support & won't be around longer
Some others had large drops . Wonder what will happen in January

Trust me, I know all about the shows that raised their top prices to $110, but given the fact that the price increase just occurred a few weeks ago and that all eight of the performances that constitute last week's box office figures have been sold out at the old price for months, the price increase had nothing whatsoever to do with last week's box office figures for Wicked. When those tickets were bought (MONTHS ago), the top price was $100.
The overall increase in the gross last week (a record for the Gershwin) was due to the increase sales of premium seats due to the holiday. Unsold premium seats are sold day-of at the box office for the normal non-premium price, but due to the holiday rush of tourists, all of those went for the $250 premium price, knocking the average ticket price up to $105.

So they sell premium tickets day - of? How much do those usually run? 100 or so?
Broadway Legend Joined: 4/5/04
Yes, any unsold premium seats and house seats are sold day-of at the box office for whatever the normal top price is -- $95, $100, $110, ....

but for a show like Wicked, in its prime, i doubt that they have many if any day-of seats? right?

Probably not, but it's always worth checking. There's no such thing as a show that's soldout 100% of the time. There are always cancellations and tickets are known to pop up at the last minute. Perhaps not every day for every performance, but often enough that, if you REALLY want to see something and are persistent, you'll get in.
My jaw hit the floor when I saw Seascape dropped 40% in one week. I love this production so much; I hope it bounces back soon.

Well, part of the Seascape drop was from opening week comps (as well as an apparent aversion to giant lizards by out-of-town tourists). I'm sure the numbers will improve next week.
