Posted: 3/17/08 at 3:28pmI assume August's drop is somewhat due to the fact that it was originally supposed to close Sunday, March 9th...

Posted: 3/17/08 at 3:30pmWow--HUGE bump for a lot of shows. Spring breaks for colleges? I know they're not for high schools yet... What else could expain a 10% increase almost across the board?

Most colleges started spring break last week (or the week before) and will continue for a couple more weeks, I think.
Glad to see CURTAINS go up, IN THE HEIGHTS with an increase in gross, and CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF in the 90s capacity.
HOMECOMING doesn't seem to be doing so great though.

Posted: 3/17/08 at 3:57pmSorry, the question mark meant "is it because of spring break for colleges?" not "are colleges on spring break?" Considering the across the board increases and not just increases in shows that would appeal to the 18-22 demographic and/or their families, that doesn't seem like the only factor.

Agreed with everything everyone has said so far!
It makes me kind of sad that Hairspray's attendance percentage is almost 30% higher than Gypsy's, yet it only makes about $100,000 more.
I've come to find that attendance percentage doesn't matter as much as gross.
I assume Gypsy's weekly nut is low, so $536,861 is very good!

Posted: 3/17/08 at 4:39pmI just checked the grosses for JOURNEY'S END. They really plummeted in April + May.

>It looks like PASSING STRANGE may be destined to become this season's JOURNEY'S END.<
Except for its closing week, Journey's End never had a week over $200,000. At least Passing Strange did better than that and is continuing to head in an upward direction.

Posted: 3/17/08 at 4:46pmits a very weak start for Gypsy, 2 weeks and low attendance

I also disagree with the JOURNEY'S END statement. It looks like PASSING STRANGE is going up, at a very slow rate, but still going up nonetheless.
Go, Passing Strange, Go!!!

Posted: 3/17/08 at 7:08pmA little OT, but my high school is on spring break. We got out last week. Then again, our schedule is completely different from all the other schools, so I guess most high schools aren't out quite yet.

Posted: 3/17/08 at 7:29pmPeople just don't know what they're missing! What ever happened to the good old days before everyone and their mother dissected every detail about every show, instead of just savin' up the allowance and having a good old time, wherever we went. All I'm sayin' is, if you can get a 25.00 tix, you could either go to PASSING STRANGE, or, get 5 cups of STARBUCKS. Make your choice
