Wolf Hall is doing solid business and both The Audience and Fish in the Dark are killing it as well, I wonder how long it'll before The Audience announces it has recouped?
Congrats to Honeymoon, making it up to 4th lowest-grossing Broadway show, beating out Hand to God, It Shoulda Been You, and The Heidi Chronicles.

Not great starts for these newbies: Gigi, Zhivago, Shoulda Been You, The Visit. And OTT and HMIV still scraping by.
Zhvivago and Visit also did not play a full week.

I'm aware, but the numbers are still low. Especially The Visit, who did 5 performances.

Actually, ticket interest seems okay, for, Shoulda Been You (78.5%), Zhivago (88.7%), and The Visit (79.5%)Gigi (78%). Not overwhelming interest in the shows - but solid interest in previews. Revenue should follow - if ticket sales stay up.
(Honeymoon's first few weeks of ticket sales: 65.3%, 54.9%, 84.1%, back to 71.9%)
It's amazing how Honeymoon just cannot get people to see the show. Too bad, it is a lot of fun.
Happy to see Wolf Hall doing well.

Ggersten, you're looking at the wrong number. The attendance capacity means nothing if those people aren't paying for their tickets (Which often times in previews are not.) Sure, maybe the house for the Visit was 80% full, but they made less than 200k.
That's why you look at the total money made and the gross potential.
well they were selling $14 tickets for It Shoulda Been You! Of course they aren't gonna make that much. Word of mouth has been great for that show! People are really loving it, i can't wait!!
"Word of mouth has been great for that show! People are really loving it, i can't wait!!"
Word of mouth has been mixed for that show. Some people are really loving it.
OH I understand that money is king. That's why I said that revenue should follow.
I think the goal in the first weeks is to get people in to see and talk up the show. Unless those ticket sales are only because the tickets are relatively inexpensive - they are some indication of some interest. You could see the lack of interest in Honeymoon from its first few weeks.
Percentage of Gross Potential should follow - If not, then it's not a hit.
Still, again, not overwhelming interest at those attendance percentages -

MOST people love the show! The only bad word of mouth I've heard was from people who saw it early on. Clearly they've been making changes :)
Just stop using hyperbole.
I know what hyperbole is. Did you see It Shoulda Been You ljay889?
Good to see It's Only a Play pick up after Broderick returned last week. That bodes well for Nathan's return this week and continued sales until June. With all the new shows out there I thought this show would be in trouble.
I know this topic has been beaten to death but any show that plays at the Paper mill is at a big disadvantage coming to Broadway. Honeymoon played well in Millburn which is only a train ride away from nyc. People who were anxious to see this saw it at the Papermill, why would they pay higher prices to see it on Broadway? Add a very long preview period and there goes most of the audience you would have attracted. It has been out there a long time and regardless of Tony nominations that might give it a bump, it won't last. Too bad because it is a fun show.

Philly, we know you didn't see it.
Raw data requires a bit more nalysis than it always gets. First week of previews can be affected by lots of things that don't carry forward: lots of papering, lots of extreme discounting, lots of first preview addicts, lots of hardcore fans who couldn't wait any longer. It really takes until about week 3 to tell what's actually going on. Also, while the money is indeed king, all money is not the same. A show like Hand to God can afford to have the lowest gross, because it has by far the lowest nut, whereas a show like It Shoulda Been You appears to be in deep trouble if not quite at Honeymoon in Vegas levels. Whereas Shoulda and Gigi seem to be DOA on all fronts, the more intriguing question is what's going on with The Visit, which is not. It could be Side Show revisited.

Unless you've got data to back up the assertion, saying "most everyone _______' is usually just multiplying your own personal opinion to try and make your argument seem more convincing.
I never claimed to see it neon! I won't be seeing anything til May when i'm back from school!
Hogan, why do you say Gigi and It Shoulda Been You are DOA? Word of mouth has been good for both shows, and they're just in previews, and they've been selling really cheap tickets.
Indytallguy, alright well most things I've heard have been good. Im telling you guys, this is the small show that could! I called this months ago
The Visit should at least run through the Tonys. They did a bunch of press last week and the commercial is now playing on the major networks.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, FROM PHILLYPINTO, WHAT "WORD OF MOUTH" ENTAILS AND HOW YOU DEFINING IT. YOUR GAY BEST FRIEND? YOUR CREEPY NEIGHBOR? YOUR DOG? WHO???
"Im telling you guys, this is the small show that could! I called this months ago "
There is NOTHING to indicate that yet.
