Wow, lots of shows getting slammed this week...
Not a great week at all. Pretty good start for Carousel, with only 5 performances. We'll see how that lasts. Did Frozen only do 5 performances again? Which nights did they not have show?
Could be the weather played a factor.

I thought Lobby Hero would be selling better given the names, specifically Chris Evans, aka Captain America. I think Spongebob and Margaritaville might be needing a couple of margaritas soon.
Wow, The Band's Visit dip is pretty remarkable (more than 11%), yikes. Is that due to Shalhoub leaving, ya think? I really didn't think his departure would have such a measurable effect considering how little they've used his name to market, but I could be wrong. And that wasn't even a full week of his being absent!
This may have been answered already, but a friend and I won the Hamilton lotto for the Saturday matinee. There was at least one pair of seats in the lotto area that were never occupied. My friend won, so I didn’t see fine print, but wouldn’t they release those seats to the line if not picked up since you are told to pick them up a half hour before curtain? It just seemed odd.

Could be word of mouth is catching up to the hype.
I can't see SPONGEBOB lasting much longer. And I doubt the PLAY THAT GOES WRONG makes it until July. Bad week for most.
I definitely think the weather played a factor. The worst of the Nor'easter hit the area from Friday through early-mid Saturday. That would not only discourage rush and lottery goers (in some cases), but also the winds made travel quite dangerous and people could have decided just to stay home. A LOT of shows were on TDF during the storm, including many new ones (MARGARITAVILLE, THREE TALL WOMEN, CAROUSEL, etc)
Re: LOBBY HERO - If I remember correctly, 2ST is a non-profit company, and so they have not only a subscription base, but also incentives to make theatre more accessible (30 Under 30), which chips away at what could be a blockbuster in a for-profit setting. However, previews just began, there isn't much buzz at the moment, and the weather threw a wrench in things last week. I'd say the next two weeks could be more telling.

His is not a starring role. Perhaps that's neither what his fans expected, nor want.

Yes, but they normally release them at full price so if there was no one who wanted them at full price, they may have went unsold.

I personally doubt it due to the reasons you suggest.

Interesting - is it not as good as people say it is?

It is awesome, but it’s not for everyone. It is not the stereotypical flashy Broadway musical. “There will be no use of jazz hands in this show.” Lol
There's a full $1 million difference between Hamilton at #1 and Springsteen at #2. That's just insane.
I really don't think The Band's Visit's dip is attributable to Shalhoub's departure. Clearly, pretty much every show was badly affected by the frigid weather this past week.
Also worth noting that no schools were really on vacation this past week. Numbers will go up this month as grade schools and colleges have their spring breaks.

No, it is. Don't mind A8.

Precisely.
And that's putting it mildly.
Spongebob will (as has been rehearsed repeatedly) run until its owners want to pull the plug, a decision having nothing to do with its grosses. The show that seems imperiled is OOTI that does not really have a raison d'être at this point, and does not have the bottomless pit to draw funds from.

They had one show each day from Wed-Sunday. Sunday was the only matinee
Amtrak actually halted all service on the northeast corridor because of the storm. I'm sure that is the main reason a lot of shows had such a bad week.

Is the raising of the Palace still happening?
I, too, have heard that SpongeBob has an unannounced "closing" date due to the Palace's upcoming renovations. Unrelated to its grosses.
