And quietly, Death of a Salesman has turned into a monster hit. I wonder if they will try to extend, or if that’s possible. How much money would the play need to make to recoup?

The other news looks kind of grim, at least for now. The nominated musicals got their bump last week but that’s it for now.

Thanks for pointing out the last time in recent memory when something had a lower average ticket price, which I think is basically what mikem was asking. Obviously it can't literally be a record; for instance, a Google search indicates that Oklahoma's top ticket price in 1943 was $4.40.smiley

We officially have every theatre running a show at the moment. I didn't look back but not sure when the last time that happened was, if ever?

Of course this is until Beaches closes :)

They added an 8 week extension through August a few months ago after previews began. Much Ado About Nothing is coming in the fall. I can’t imagine if they add anymore weeks, it will be a substantial amount. Also, Nathan Lane has mentioned how taxing the role can be and, now that he is 70, let’s not push him.

If Beaches closes this weekend, now that BoM is delayed further out, we won't have 41 consecutively running shows.

Well, we do have 41 theaters occupied with currently open shows, which I think is the main fact under discussion. I think we can count a show as still "running" even if some performances are cancelled for some reason. The latest revival of Gypsy had to cancel a bunch of performances around the holidays in 2024 due to illness among the cast, but I don't think we'd say it stopped running at that point.

I certainly don’t advocate driving Nathan Lane to an early grave. I just wondered what would be possible, now that Death of a Salesman is selling out the Winter Garden.

Much Ado About Nothing has its first preview on Halloween. I don’t know how much time is necessary to clear DOAS out or set up Jamie Lloyd’s show. And obviously, I have no idea if the principals would even want to extend for a few extra weeks. I have seen the play so it doesn’t matter to me. But I know others have asked, so I was curious.

I wasn’t expecting Death of a Salesman to have the third highest grosses of the week, a shade ahead of The Lion King.

Tom Felton was on vacation this week from POTTER, hence their major drop.

Huge drop. I wonder what he is getting paid as this drop shows that he is the reason a majority of people have been seeing the show.
"

I continue to be amazed at what a draw he’s been. I wonder if the producers are courting other actors from the film to play adult versions of themselves, Obviously Radcliffe and Watson wouldn’t be interested but Rupert Grint seems underemployed of late.
