Plus, Xanadu is selling tickets for 49 dollars. It can't be making much. I don't many who would pay full price for it yet.
I am unsure how much GG will get a boost from the Tonys. I mean, all the people interested in the Tonys have seen the show and all interested parties already know about Christine's lauded performance and went to see it. I don't know who else would be impacted by the show winning some Tonys.

Sad that Grey Gardens went down, it will pick it up.
I'm sure filling the Helen Hayes won't be hard, even for Xanadu.

Hmm...
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST $810,555
TARZAN $545,171
Let's close BEAUTY and keep TARZAN open
HUH?
BEAUTY's percentage is even better than POPPINS.
What are they thinking over there?

Posted: 5/31/07 at 9:04amIt seems like Les Miserables is not affected at all by getting no Tony nominations. What seem to be the reason for this?
#33re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/27/2007
Posted: 5/31/07 at 11:22amIt's been around forever, and people already love it; it's already established and doesn't need Tony nominations the second time around to prove to people that they should see it.

"Summer begins on June 21st. Most elementary, middle, and high school don't get out until the 15th, that is when the grosses should start to pick up."
Where???? All schools I know of are already out (in Texas, at least).
And could it be that the reason Beauty is selling better than Tarzan and Poppins right now is because it's closing soon? Isn't that the point of publicising a closing notice?

I know schools out West are going until mid-June, and a few schools down South are still in session
And in the way of grosses, I know XANADU only played 5 performances, but not even $200,000? that doesnt sound good grosses-wise

Saw Company last night(5/31) and here's a little inside information. I was seated in the front mezz. and sadly, there was only about 100 people total in the entire mezz. The orchestra did look pretty full, though. Also talked to one of the ushers and she sad the weekend crowds have been really improving. She said this past Sat. night & Sun. crowds were really good sizes. Unfortunately, she also said the Wed matinees are dreadful, with only a couple hundred people showing up.
Here's hoping those Sat. & Sun. crowds start spilling over into the weekdays.
