Do we even need to say "Ugh, Company and Grey Gardens" anymore?
I expect a notice from Journey's End shortly.

Posted: 5/7/07 at 3:39pmI really wanted to see Journey's end this summer. I am afraid that my not happen. I am starting to think the same about Company. Ugh!

Posted: 5/7/07 at 3:43pmI'm still surprised Company isn't doing well at the box office. I'm also surprised that Mamma Mia has lasted soooooooo long....

Up 1.1% for Company! Come on people, where's the celebration?!
/sarcasm.
Commence "arrrrrgh."

Posted: 5/7/07 at 3:50pmI am in shock (though I know I shouldn't be). 26.1% for JOURNEY'S END? They're making pennies! Lord. The Tony Nominations are announced a week from tomorrow. Let's pray that they get a much-deserved chunk of the play nominations.

But with Rent's intake this low consistantly and with the return of two of it's original stars (Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal), does this indicate a possible closure in the distant or not-too-distant future? Also, what about the future of Spelling Bee?

Steady week for Curtains.
I was going to see JE in July. I had better rethink it and see it sooooooon. Company and GG...oh well. Sorry for their fans.

re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/6/2007#15
Posted: 5/7/07 at 6:31pm^^ um b/c it's a little low considering what they've been at and it should be higher.

re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/6/2007#17
Posted: 5/7/07 at 6:39pmConsidering what other shows are at, I don't think Spring Awakening is anything to worry about.

"legally blonde got a boost didnt it?"
LB filled less seats, but the average ticket price was up about $11.00. So the attendance percentage is off a couple of percent, but it made money. No one will be too unhappy with that result. Still I think this show will begin a slow fade - although not until after the summer season. I don't believe it has the stamina or shelf life of Wicked (which I'm still debating about seeing). I just don't see LB maintaining the boffo business its been doing, but what do I know.

This wasn't a good week for Broadway grosses in general. Except for the uber-touristy shows like Wicked and Jersey Boys, none of the shows did very good.
I'm going to resist making a bad pun about Journey's End, but it's not looking good for them...
re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/6/2007#23
Posted: 5/7/07 at 11:02pmIf 'Journey's End' doesn't do so hot on Tony Nominations, does anyone think it will still be open 2-3 weeks from now? (i.e.: when I get home for the summer and will be able to see it)
