Now I really have to see God of Carnage. I feel bad for them. :/

Pretty good week all around. Nice to see HAIR going up a little, although still under their nut. Hopefully business starts kicking again.

Nice jumps for Fela! and Memphis, but on the other end of the spectrum the Tony nomination doesn't seem to be doing much for Million Dollar Quartet.

I am surprised by the grosses for Million Dollar Quartet, FELA and Memphis.

MDQ seems to have gotten no help at all from the Tony nom.

Memphis and FELA also seem to be running low.

I think American Idiot had its highest grossing week so far.

HAIR had a nice jump in attendance, but only an extra $43K to show for it.

Another nice week for Promises. Despite its mixed reviews, it has gotten pretty good word of mouth. Seemed everywhere I went in midtown someone was chatting about it.

Hair continuing to lose money.

ROA not looking too stellar either the last few weeks.

Decent #'s for AI, but that theater is clearly way too big for the show. Wonder how that effects their nut.

The terrible reviews continue to have no effect on AF. Guess it's going to be around for a while.

Looks like FELA's tony noms gave it a good boost.

If Addams Family has the advance that's been reported those reviews aren't going to show a mark at the box office at this point, anyways. Most of the current audience purchased tickets far before we knew it was a pig with lipstick.

My guess is that The Addams Family will probably continue to pull strong numbers all through the summer. The real test will be in the fall after many of the tourists leave. Remember, Tarzan also had a large advance when it opened.

Why do you feel bad for GOD OF CARNAGE? It's the most successful straight play Broadway has seen in a while.

The jump in Hair was small but I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come as more students get home from college...

WiCkEDrOcKS: Really? Oh. Well I just started looking into these weekly grosses so I wouldn't know. And I guess I feel bad because I really want to see it before it closes.

i like the numbers for La cage & Memphis. Still worried about Hair. Hopefully only a few more slow weeks before the summer rush comes in.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

So surprised by Promises, Promises - I guess putting it in a huge theatre wasn't such a bad move after all.

Yup. As did Young Frankenstein and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Still worried about Hair.

Why worried? The show is a hit, paid its costs, made a profit, and will likely tour. Even it it closed tomorrow - everyone would walk away happy.

Broadway shows - and especially revivals - are not permanent tourist attractions (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and WICKED aside.)

It is healthy for Broadway that shows change regularly.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Didn't Hair already announce their tour...I could've sworn that I heard they were coming to the Bushnell in Hartford next May(ish).
Still hoping it lasts the summer so I can see it one more time.

HAIR probably will last the summer (it is a big show with tourists) but don't be surprised if they soon start advertising "final weeks."

I'm not really. Sean has been nominated and the show got some really bad reviews. (not to mention that last article written that Kristin defended him in) - I think people really want to see him and Kristin.

On the flipside, Fences got critical acclaim plus big Tony nominations. Maybe it is also because it is a limited engagement and people want to see it more now. Great numbers for them. I am just guessing and will be corrected.

which is why i was surprised to read on the West End forum about some coming back to their jobs in HAIR in NY in October.

Yes. I mean, I don't know about Hartford, but they're definitely touring next year.
