Color Purple's nosedive was to be expected with Cynthia's vacation.
And man...Fun Home is looking terminal.
My heart is bleeding for Bight Star. It had another great week and even topped the high gross from the previous week. And it's still closing on Sunday ![]()
Not looking good for Fun Home at all, and An American Paris took another dip as well...

Ahhhhhh. I was wondering why the color purple didn't get a bump with her win and performance. Completely forgot about her vacation.
Glad to see Bright Star having its highest week (or one of them anyway). Hope they can end on a positive note this week.
I was at Fun Home Friday night. It was.... Not full. And the one downside in that theater is you really feel the emptiness because it's in the round and so intimate. (Although I'm sure the actors feel it just as much in a traditional theater since THEY can see the whole house even if we can't.)
I went to see Fun Home Saturday night. It was pretty full except for the last row on both long sides. The show is still really amazing and I'm hoping a miracles happens. It doesn't deserve to go
Nice to see that School of Rock and Fiddler got post-Tony bumps.
Hardly matters at this point because it fluctuates so much, but kinda surprising to see Chicago not picking up slightly after Bebe's 20 yr anniversary tribute at the Tonys. however flimsy it seemed to us, it had a slightly nostalgic quality to it.
I'm hoping Fun Home doesn't announce a sudden closing. That show needs some more advertisement.
Even with Cynthia on vacation I would have expected to see the color purple get a bump for their tony win.
Both bright star and the king and I had noticeable bumps this week and are closing next week. I'm glad people are noticing that these shows don't deserve to close.

yeah I'm surprised it dropped so much. It's not like Cynthia is a famous name even if she is the highlight of the show. I'll wait until next week though to see if it bounces back when she comes back.

Waitress is KILLING it! They broke the box office record for The Brooks last week and have now broken their own record. Pretty Impressive. Second only to hamilton in % of potential gross.
Color Purple had a big bump last week from the Tonys, and dropped to slightly below the week before. So maybe last week was just an abnormality, and this weeks and the week before last are more the norm?
There are a lot of shows that seem to be on the precipice, but then again, I've thought they were on the precipice months ago--Kinky Boots, Jersey Boys, Fun Home, Something Rotten, An American in Paris... A distinguished group that has had runs ranging from healthy to extraordinary. I do wonder if any of them will be packing it up soon.
On the flip side, Paramour seems to have been in free fall since the moment it opened. I suspect no one is fighting to book the Lyric, but I do wonder how much time it has in it.

Sauja, IIRC, Something Rotten and American in Paris have not yet recouped. So that makes a difference.

On Your Feet while still healthy in 800k range dropped another 5%. I'm guessing Gloria on Tony's didn't help much.
Jersey Boys has looked like it's going to close for years now and yet it's still going.
With the cancellation line of Hamilton sooo long... I wonder how in the world did Hamilton dip -0.1%? OK I know it's only 0.1% and is a tiny tiny tiny percentage but I thought these grosses solely depend on box office sales (not secondary market sales.) If so, I'd imagine Hamilton to remain constant given it sells out every night due to the cancellation line. Am I missing something here?
perhaps accessible seating? I don't know how they handle those, i.e. what happens when you have fewer disabled people than such seats in one or another performances. Do they have chairs to put in those places and sell them as normal seats, or no? If not that might explain how it goes up and down a few seats every week.

Yeah, I assumed it would have given it somewhat of a boost. Hopefully it doesn't keep dropping..

Shocking how Paramour has dropped.
Perhaps the real shock is how strong it opened.

I don't know what people here are looking at but Paramour is not in free fall. the grosses have been +/- 5% since the second frame (except for the week of the upfronts). I have no idea why anyone would paygood money to see it, but that's another story.

That's a good point! I always wondered how the box office sells accessible seating tix. Didn't think of that. Thx.

I wondered that as well. If no one who needs accessible seating purchases them would they be sold to the cancellation line? When I went to to buy waitress tickets the other day (about 2.5 hours before curtain) I was offered accessible seating because it was all that was open aside from partial view (but then he looked again and someone who was holding tickets online had released them). So at least in that circumstance they were willing to sell them to me even though I did not need accessible seating. (My understanding was the would not do so if other full view seats were available.) I would think Hamilton would sell them to the cancellation line rather than having them sit empty. (When I was there they were all filled with wheelchairs... I imagine there are plenty of people who want to see the show who need accessible seating!)

Too bad Bright Star hasn't been like this all along. I truthfully doubted this show all along, until I actually saw it. The advertising and music clips I saw didn't do much for me, but still decided to go and it was really a well done show with a great leading and supporting cast. I enjoyed it a lot more than I had expected to.
So happy to see Eclipsed go out well, and a bump for The Humans!! Really praying Fun Home picks up, but sadly I don't think that'll happen.
