I think you're right LynnSpock.
Wow it was one of those weeks. I think it's gonna be a long summer. And I think Xanadu really need that Whoopi infusion!

Posted: 7/14/08 at 4:57pmI really wish the producers for A Chorus Line had waited until the summer to determine whether to keep the show open longer. It's had four solid weeks so far and it will probably remain so throughout the entire summer. Such a shame.

That's scary...
I hope [tos] is not another Glory Days... I want [tos] to live happily ever after!!

Posted: 7/14/08 at 5:00pmI am quite, quite scared for not only particular shows but the economy as a whole.

Posted: 7/14/08 at 5:01pmAnd there lies the difference, [TOS] is a GOOD show.
#11re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/13
Posted: 7/14/08 at 5:02pm[tos] will not be another GLORY DAYS (1 performance). We have to wait another 25 years for that to happen. [tos] will probably be another IN MY LIFE (61) or PIRATE QUEEN (84).

ecomony sucks right now(i agree with you broadway is suffering) and i am hearing people are starting to get choosy about which shows to see.
i want to say that broadway should lower their prices to make more affordable and enjoyable to see musicals/plays. it is a good way to let go what is going on with you for about three hours for some shows, with intermission.
of course wicked will always be at 100 percent. legally blonde and hairspray for example were in the nineties capacity percentage last week but went down to late eighties capacity, but got to say at least it didnt go all the way down to seventies for the summer months.
hope it goes back after this week!!!!

Posted: 7/14/08 at 6:31pmYeah, tickets are very expensive. The Little Mermaid, I believe, had the most expensive tickets (aside from Premium) when I bought them. I wouldn't want to see Broadway suffer because of the economy and go back to shady strip theatres of the late 80's and 90's.

Anything under $20 mil is bad, but that's not counting Young Frank, Damn Yankees, and remember, Pilobolus is in town.
Also, for those of you who can get away, Chicago at the Surflight LBI, NJ)is way better than Chicago in NY, or Chicago itself for that matter.

Yankees1253: Easy to say the cure is to lower ticket prices, but that is simplistic at best. Everyone wants to make a living: actors, musicians, stage hands, dressers, etc. and none of them want to take a pay cut nor should they.

#24re: Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 7/13
Posted: 7/15/08 at 10:24amHopefully Whoopi will do Xanadu some good, even if she's only in it a month. I think it's gonna be a struggle through the fall though...
