Posted: 8/31/10 at 12:23amI don't think so. Come Fly Away screams impulse show. It doesn't seem like a show you plan in advanced for. Tourists see the marquee in Time Square & hear the music they buy tickets. I don't really think The Nederlander could really accommodate those needs.

Maybe a little bit, but it's a show that relies on the young people. School impedes them from seeing it.

I'm thinking that might have been sorano's point? More shows on the weekend = more young people?

Posted: 8/31/10 at 1:24amThat's why I said a little bit, but not enough that it would keep the show open.

They are returning to their pre-summer schedule.
Billy Elliot is also changing its schedule....no Wednesdays. I don't think I like this trend -- this makes for three: BE, N2N and ROA.

I never understood the trend of having a two-show Wednesday. I understand having a night show, but the matinee doesn't seem to serve anyone more than groups of seniors and school kids. does anyone actually go to Wednesday mats other than the above listed?

Posted: 8/31/10 at 8:55amA lot of tourists will go to matinees. And there are many people who do not have traditional work schedules (i.e. they work nights, freelance, or work from home) and they can also attend matinees.

avgbwaynut: thanks for the info! i wondered how that worked.
i go to matinees, and i'm not a bluehair. if i have a day off or a few hours to kill and i can drag a friend to go with me, we'll catch whatever show we can land tickets for. i might even try going alone to a show since posters in an earlier thread convinced me to try it. i find the saturday night crowds more annoying actually.

Weds matinees are usually pretty full houses. Lots of tour groups/field trips. Even if it IS full of seniors -- who cares? There are many folks that don't like being out at night...or make a day of it.
Additionally, since Bway thrie on the tourist $, and they are there during the days because they are on vacation.
If I can only get away for a few (non weekend) days, I love going in for two over-nights (Tues/Weds) and being able to see FOUR shows.
I do, however, wonder that current sales may be telling productions that Weds matiness are on the way out.
