What are some Broadway theatres that you think need to be refurbished?

Helen Hayes for sure. That place is a dump.

I heard recently that the Hayes is going to be redone.

The Hayes is getting a full renovation starting this September prior to Second Stage officially programming the theater in 2017 - 2018. They are shutting it down all next season from what I've heard.

The Ambassador. Easily the most in need of a refurb.

When I saw The Visit last year I was shocked at the state of the Lyceum Theater. Desperately needs a renovation!

Haven't been to the Majestic in 10 years, but apparently a lot of people think that theatre could use some sprucing up.

When I went to see Norm Lewis in Phantom last year the entire rear mezz reeked like an armpit. It was so bad I had to move up during intermission

STUDIO 54!
My god! This theatre (among others) has a HUGE need for larger seats, especially in the mezzanine.

Oof. Does the rear mezz permanently smell like armpit or were you just unlucky to share a section with someone with stinky armpits that day?

Repair the proscenium of Studio 54 plus replace the carpeting and repaint the place.

When I was in the Lyceum and the Hayes recently they both seemed not quite exactly run down, but bare and cold and uncomfortable spaces that needed serious work.

The older theaters need renovated bathroom facilities. The devil is in the details as there is a limited amount of space to work with

Agreed, regarding the bathrooms. The older theatres all have seriously ladies room issues. Of course with space issues and when the two restrooms are on opposite sides of the theatre I don't see much that can be done.
This has become painfully clear at the Brooks Atkinson in the two times I've seen Waitress. It can't come close to accommodating the largely female crowd and last time I was there a fight practically broke out because they aren't managing the line properly. And the Golden has like 4 stalls in the ladies room.

Agreed about the toilets. I know there is absolutely not space for this in most (or any) broadway theatres, but I live in St. Louis and see touring productions at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, where the women's bathroom has 10+ sinks and about 50 stalls. There is almost never a line, and when there is it moves quickly. Granted it is a 5000+ seat theatre so they need the big restrooms more than most broadway houses, but I still wish the theatres in NYC had space for a setup like the Fox. I don't think I've ever been able to use the women's room at a broadway theatre without the panic of either missing curtain/the beginning of act 2 or not getting to use the restroom when I need to.

The Fox is as big as a train station. The restrooms are marvels of design and have tons of toilets.

The Sondheim has, as they remind you, "the largest ladies' room on Broadway" and it is so nice. Even with plenty of stalls they have an attendant to keep it moving. Fortunately the two restrooms are back to back there so they were able to take part of the men's room to make a larger women's restroom.

The Lyceum bathroom situation is legitimately terrible, that two stall women's restroom in the mezzanine is...something.

Is that where View from the Bridge was? If so isn't the bathroom in the orchestra only like 2 stalls as well? It was my first time there and I was STUNNED. Not to mention I could barely get into the stall. I figured there must be a larger restroom elsewhere.
They'd probably sell more wine to women if we didn't have to worry as much about whether we'd have time to pee at intermission.

Yes, A View From the Bridge was in the Lyceum. I usually pee somewhere else (like the Marriott) if I can before I go in there because the bathroom situation is so bad.
