I've noticed this lately. hopefully once he's done in Hamilton he gets to sleep in!

I saw Hamilton Saturday and he was great but afterwards my gf commented that he looked exhausted. And he screwed up a line in hurricane which I'm going to attribute to him being tired (not that a slip up is a huge deal). Guy needs a month off

Not to derail but my point is that being able to rap Guns and Ships doesn't take an "accomplished rapper". It has a couple of lines that are fast-ish, but they're not really difficult to say. The song he showcased on Fallon (and once for a #ham4ham) not only has lines that cram 5 more syllables into the same 3 seconds as the famous Guns and Ships line; he also spat it out faster than even the album version (which was impressive enough), and it has parts that are tricky to say while being intelligible ("time to be outside instead", "to carry no remorse at all"; maybe it doesn't translate to text but these are hard at 9.3 syllables/second).
That takes immeasurably more skill, and I read an interview once where he said that he works hard to do it, and once wrote a song even he couldn't do so he had to practice getting better for months by recording other songs. Your average online Hamilton fan might dedicate a little time to being able to sing along with Guns and Ships, but they probably don't hone their craft as their life's work.

I agree completely. If you go to YouTube and watch some of his work with clipping, he plays a lot with meter and speed with really interesting and fantastic results. "Story 2" especially as it continues to speed up to match the urgency of the lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbU9UUwxBxA

JTF cracked me up, from saying something like "I've never been nominated for a Tony" to telling Jane "No" during Can't Take My Eyes Off You to pushing Jane away during One Day More. Too funny!
Wish the segment was longer!

Greetings there, Hellob...
Take a look at JTF's Snapchat story, you've earnt a mention! He thanks you for your concern but assures you he is quite ok being the only one without a Tony.

JTF just called you and this comment out on his snapchat lol.
Can you imagine what the outtakes from this are like? I hope we get to see those someday!

OMG, I'm going to be a star! But seriously how do I get to the snappy chat??
Edited to say I figured it out and it was so cute and funny. Love you JTF!
Even with all that other talent in that car, Audra's voice clearly stood out, simply gorgeous.

Yes, definitely! But I love all of them in that car.
James, if you're reading this along with JTF, a message from me: Please come back to Broadway and do A Funny Thing Happened...!!! It could even be a limited engagement. That would be fine with me! ![]()
I wish I could hear which version of 'One Day More' they were singing along to. I think it was the original London cast album (the one with Michael Ball), but it's hard to tell.
And dangit, I wanted them to do the whole song! James and Jane would make a great M. and Mme. Thenardier.

I'm pretty sure I heard Francis Ruffelle; her voice is quite distinctive! So either OLC or OBC.
I can't stop watching it! When my class was at lunch/recess, I threw it up on the ENO board. It was like watching it on a movie screen.
this has got to help Tony ratings. It's been everywhere! And in just 24 hours, it has gained 2 million views on YouTube.
^ Hopefully it does.
I think Jersey Boys was probably chosen over something more obscure is to get a more general audience interested. Like Hamilton is the big thing now. And the other shows are very well known outside of the theater community. While we may be excited about the segment because we love theater, the general show has a more broad audience.
