The reception to the filmed version of BANDSTAND very much more positive on here than the reviews were for the show. I wonder if it would have been better as a movie with a few less book scene songs.

Better on screen:
Gigi
Would work better:
Do Re Mi
Zorba
Follies
Mack and Mabel
On the Twentieth Century
Merrily We Roll Along
The Secret Garden
Kiss of the Spider Woman
Parade
Taboo
Grey Gardens
Violet
Great Comet
Bandstand
And personally, I always thought Once On This Island would make a terrific animated film.

It's amazing how many people don't even read the OP before making comments.

Better on screen: Gigi
GIGI was first an original MGM musical. It was later adapted for the Broadway stage. The film wasn’t a film adaptation of a Broadway musical.

I s2g I have an entire Merrily film blocked out in my head.
Carrie would work quite well on film, I think, particularly if you harken back to the glitzy 80s version and the semi-giallo camp of DePalma’s film (see also Phantom of the Paradise).
LaChiusa’s Wild Party would also be exceptional in the right hands (ie, daring and creative).
