are you trying to say its NOT about very young people? Where are the moms? the wise grannies?
At least Little Women had one grown up in the cast.

which is why i never saw thateither. I was 33 when it opened. totally beyond my interest.
Auditions for white females were restricted to "under 24" so I've never even listened to it.

Posted: 5/24/05 at 11:49pmThat made no sense. That does not mean that is what the show is about,

Chevstriss,
Look, I hear your pain, but do you really want me to list all of the diva roles in new musicals for over-30 actresses since 1995?
How about Victoria Clark in "Light in the Piazza" this season?
Tonya Pinkins last year in "Caroline, or Change?" Julie Andrews in "Victor/Victoria?" Marin Mazzie in "Ragtime?"

I am surprised it lasted this long, but I wish each and every person involved all the luck on their next job. Good luck Brooklyn Cast.
my ears are happy once more

I think it's about time - I still can't believe it ran longer than Little Women.

Maybe prayer really does work, after all...
j/k. I feel bad about the people who are now out of work, but I welcome a new tenant on Broadway. My message to BROOKLYN fans is that you should be ecstatic that it lasted this long.

"this is great news"
You know....that is a total ....junk. You have every freakin' right in the world to not like a show but to celebrate its demise is simply...wrong.
I think we have a vested interest to any show succeed on Broadway to keep the institution going. I have no interest in defending Brooklyn as artistic venture. I'll leave that to someone...well, someone who liked it. But to wish misfortune on any show is awful.

In polish I would say "BZDURA!" to that.

I'm not commenting about Brooklyn, but crap is crap, and we don't have to support crap.
And besides, there are shows waiting for theatres, so this one closing is actually going to give another show an oppurtunity to play on Broadway, and perhaps the next will be better received...
I only wish shows like MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG and ANYONE CAN WHISTLE could have survived 9 months after opening...God knows they're much better...

Its fair enough that worse shows have survived longer than Brooklyn... but it really wasn't very good. Can't wait for Eden to join Wicked full-time, really hope she does soon. Does anyone know what will be replacing Brooklyn & also Little Women?
lol

I'm going to miss this show so much. I already bought my tickets. Something about the show really got me and it helped me made some important decisions in my life. I'm very sad that it's closing, at least they have some warning.
I hope the cast doesn't stay away too long esp. my faves, Karen and Cleavant! They were the reasons that I saw it over and over again.

You're damn right. Unfortunately there are those who are so bitter and so miserable that the only joy they get out of life is by raining on someone else's parade.

Such a reasonable thoughtful sentiment...right back atcha!
I'm not saying support ...as you say..."crap". However, a show closing, people losing their livelihood, fans losing something they care about, is hardly a cause for celebration.
I am amazed and dismayed at your attitude...Shame on you!
BTW, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG and ANYONE CAN WHISTLE were crap and I am glad they closed. heh heh heh

Posted: 5/25/05 at 9:38amI wish that I could have seen the show, I'll just have to wait for the tour. I saw Eden last summer in Wicked, and she was amazing.. All the best to the cast, crew, etc.

I hope Ramona Keller finds a better home. She was the one with talent.
But Bklyn the so called Musical should be thrown in the trash.

Posted: 5/25/05 at 12:24pmThis is not great news. The show was flawed, yes, but really was enjoyable. I only saw it once, but plan on seeing it before it closes next month. (why did they pick the day of the NY Pride Parade of all days to close this show??) The cast was great and the story was timely, but people never gave it a chance. Now that my favorite musical is closing, I hope that the cast moves on to do great things. I'd love to see Eden as Elphaba, but don't know if she'd go back to Wicked full time.

Posted: 5/25/05 at 12:27pmHopefully a show with a bigger cast goes into the Plymouth (or whatever its called now) so now more actors have an oppurtunity to work.
