Posted: 11/30/14 at 3:02pmI'm more interested in knowing by when I need to see GG again if I want to see Bryce one last time... I head out of town for Christmas/post NY, so may need to get there before the holidays if January is when he disappears...

The role was done in demos by Raul Esparza, but I doubt he would do a replacement now.
Will they get a relative unknown or go for a name? D'Ysquith is a role for a character comedian- I wouldn't be surprised if producers have contacted Martin Short, Mike Myers and Hank Azaria, in addition to Hyde Pierce.
Character comedy is much more prevalent in the UK than it is here- we see it as a novelty while character comedians are still a major part of pop culture, commanding their own television shows and tours instead of appearing in the SNL ensemble. Perhaps Mitchell and Webb, or a member of The League of Gentlemen, Snuff Box or The Mighty Boosh will step in and bring their cult followings.

Posted: 12/10/14 at 11:58amWhen I saw The Last Ship recently, it occurred to me that Aaron Lazar would be a seamless replacement for Pinkham.

Posted: 12/10/14 at 12:29pmLazar definitely looks the part, and could sing it well but I am not sold that he could do the comedy.

It's got to be a hard role to cast- you need someone who can sing in the classic operetta-music hall style, but play the rather modern absurdist farce at the same time.
If this were ten years ago, you could say "Get me Christian Borle!" and you'd be done. But he doesn't really have an up-and-coming equivalent.

I have tickets for Sunday, January 18. I really hope he is in the show till then but if he isn't, I have faith that his replacement will be equally great ! My biggest hope is that, by chance, I will see his farewell performance on the show...a boy can dream, right ?

Posted: 12/17/14 at 2:41pmI like that GGLAM is promoting their understudies, instead of bringing in new performers. I also assume that Pinkham will be returning to GGLAM after The Heidi Chronicles, since the Broadway.com article says he's "taking a leave of absence."

Posted: 12/17/14 at 2:43pmSweet... I did want to see him in it again, but if he'll eventually come back to it, no rush... I'm patient.

But Pinkham was just involved with the workshop of Waitress the other day. Does anyone think he could still be doing the show at A.R.T. in August, or could he be heading right back into Gentleman's Guide post-Heide Chronicles?

He'd be gone longer than only August: rehearsals, previews, etc. If they follow the same sched as Neverland (and it seems to) then rehearsals will likely start in June with Previews in July, Opening in Aug and running into Sept a bit.
(If I'm remembering correctly.

Jeff Kready(I think that is how you spell it)
Is taking over!
I am so excited. He was my Monty when I saw the show in October.

This thread is titled wrong. It should be Bryce Pinkham successor, since he cannot be replaced.
