Burton to direct Into the Woods with Depp as baker

How about it? I think it would be amazing. Get helena to be the bakers wife and bring in a name to play the witch to sell tickets? What do you all think?

Depp would not work at all as the Baker.

Can you PLEASE title your treads something like, "Should Burton direct Into the Woods?" or at least something with a question mark! When you say, "Burton to direct Into the Woods," you appear to be stating a fact, and it is very misleading.

Well the casting really depends on how Burton would direct it... but I agree, conventionally Depp wouldn't work, but perhaps that was said about him playing Sweeney... so who knows?

I don't think Tim should do Into The Woods; granted he is my favorite director, but he did Sweeney Todd because he saw the original production and begged Mr.Sondheim for permission to do it because he loved it so much. Into The Woods just doesn't have the gothic feel that most of Mr. Burton's films do; but who knows...

Edit: Now that I think about it, I do think it would make a nice claymation movie.

well Burton loves his movies to have creepy fantasy trees so that alone makes it fitting. In regard to casting, i personally think the baker & wife should be unknowns in their early 20s....but thats my own interpertation of those two that not many people seem to agree with. I'd put Depp in as the narrator/mysterious man, Helena would be interstng as jack's mom. but she'd probably get cast as the witch.

Are you kidding?

After seeing Sweeney... If Burton directed, nobody in the film would actually sing "Into the Woods," because it's a chorus number.

No Depp or Carter! But if Tim did this, it could be very good.

Depp wouldn't fit in this. But Carter would actually be an option for the two lead female roles. I don't even think her singing would be a problem. The Baker's Wife does not need an amazing voice.

Barker would be deliciously funny as the Witch. I would prefer someone like Toni Collette for the Baker's Wife. With Antonio Banderas as the Baker.

I almost had an epileptic in horror.
Johnny Depp would be an awful baker.
Tim Burton would be a horrible director for Into the Woods.
Leave Into the Woods alone. Its a masterpiece that doesn't need ruining like Sweeney Todd was.

Except Sweeney Todd was far from ruined.
