re: Butz and Tveit officially join CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

I really don't get the Greg Jbara love in BILLY ELLIOT. He's not doing a bad job, but I don't think the role has Tony written on it nor does Jbara add anything to the role to make it Tony-worthy.
Tveit seems to be quite "hot" on Broadway right now, good for him.

I'm inclined to go with Seiber. Apart from being about the best thing in Shrek, he's made it very clear that he's committed to the Broadway theater and should, IMO, have won it for Spamalot. This could be a good time for him to get a Tony.

So this means that Aaron probs wont be in N2N in July well at the beginning either right? My luck in seeing him is just not going my way, he was out when i saw Wicked last summer, and i'll be in NY at the beginning of July this summer! haha Damn! Oh well! :) Norbert and Aaron being in this show should be awesome! :)

I'd be surprised if the Tony voters care that Aaron's going off to another project that he's been committed to. They know how this business works, and will appreciate that he's staying committed to both projects. Ultimately, if his work is worthy of a Tony nom, he'll probably get it.

If Aaron was missing a bunch of performances of N2N for lame reasons, it would probably be a different story.

Thinking back on Tony Awards history, you might be right about Seiber. The featured actor/actress category tends to go to comedic roles. It went to Beth Leavel (not really deserved), Sara Ramirez (kind of wanted Kelli to win), and Dan Fogler (who should not have even been nominated).

I'm still pulling for Greg Jbara.

I don't think it has anything to do with being a comedic role at all (I would hardly call Mortiz from Spring Awakening, Tommy Devito from Jersey Boys, Herbie from Gypsy, and Booth from Assassins comedic roles). Jbara is simply giving a soozefest of a performance. This is coming from someone who LOVES Greg in other stuff. He was my favorite part of DRS, and has a beautiful singing voice. In Billy Elliot, he's boring. Also, while normally I would agree that Seiber is the one to beat, voters could potentially write off his performance for several reasons (it's not as recent, the whole show is a little amateur, and he's delivering funny lines using a gag that many people think gets old really fast). I mean, I LOVED him, but I always love him. The Tony voters might not see it that way.

Also, my guess is that Will Swenson will be put in the leading category with Creel.

I can't decide whether the producers would be smart to put Swenson in Lead with Creel since there's less competition there or stupid since it may split the vote (though my vote would be for Swenson, every time).

Back on topic, I'm super excited about this show.

Swenson should be placed in featured.

I am shocked that anyone would call Greg Jbara's performance a snoozefest. He was heartbreaking and certainly gives his all. I think this is the best role he's had in his career.

As I said, I love Greg and have loved him in MANY MANY things. I think this is far from his best performance. I think he was much better in DRS and Victor/Victoria, and, though he didn't originate the role, as Billy Flynn in Chicago. His talent is wasted in the underwritten role in Billy Elliot.

Also, while the producers would be smart to put Swenson in the featured category, Berger is a leading character and to label him as featured would almost be an insult to the writers.

Tveit is is so busy lately. Wow... I remember being a fan of his when he was playing Link in the first national tour of Hairspray.

Tveit will be nominated, but I don't think he'll win. There will be a sense of "his time will come" around his nomination. I think he'll be nominated against Greg Jbara, Chris Seiber, Marc Kudisch, and Will Swenson. My money is on Seiber to win. Count me among those who didn't think Jbara was all that great in Billy Elliot. I liked him, yes, but he certainly wasn't brilliant.

re: Butz and Tveit officially join CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

Gregory Jbara
Christopher Sieber (WIN)
Marc Kudisch
Aaron Tveit
Craig Bierko

Sieber has had this in the bag for a while. Kudisch and Jbara are veterans who give nowhere near their best performance. Seiber steals the whole show and praise for him has been unanimous.

As for Tveit...they don't give out a Tony for abs, kiddies.

Well to be fair 9 to 5 hasn't opened yet and Brantley does love Kudisch. So, if 9 to 5 is a big hit, you never know. But, the praise is strong for Sieber, who like Kudisch is a favorite among the theater community, I think.

I don't get why Tveit's performance is so highly praised in this show? I mean, what's so great about? His character just gets on my nerves. He's just constantly moving and grabbing at poles and flying into people's faces doing weird model faces. But whatever.

Alice Ripley is a terrible vocalist.

Are you deaf and retarded?

Her vibrato makes me want to pull out a gun and shoot myself in the mouth.

Yeah, i think your opinion is about as useful as rentboys, what with your claims of a personal relationship with Adam Lambert and your urge to defend him to the death for throwing musical theatre under the bus.

re: Butz and Tveit officially join CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

Yes, it makes YOU look so credible when you fail to address Ripley's terrible vocals... and choose to divert the attention to something completely unrelated.

Pathetic.
