umm - maybe because it wasn't good?

Hi, Shirley Temple Pudding.

yea. That and All I Ask of You is not really made to be sang in that way and definitely the upbeat way they were doing it. Could you imagine Raoul doing it that way to Christine? Christine would've wanted to leavee with the Phantom after that version. It's made to be this smooth, passionate, romantic approach for a duet, maybe solo if you're Michael Ball, but definitley not the way they snag it. They should've done something like Masquerade if anything, or have two people do the title song or AIAOY, or maybe, just maybe, give Howard McGillin another shot at MOTN, this time with a live orchestra. But definitely not that!

Are you kidding me? Who said that a concert must be sung in the context of the show or the same drab way we've been hearing it for the past 18 years. It was upbeat, fun, and done with the style the performers are the best at entertaining us with. You don't have to like it, but don't make it seem like everything should have kept to the way it is performed in the show.
Next people are going to argue that a 10 year old shouldn't be singing "Somethings Coming" because it is restricted to men in their 20's...

That's a very poor excuse, Broadwaybound. It's not supposed to be the same, drab old version as the one in the show. It was changed to relate it to the style of the boys, as something they could all sing together.

Them singing Masquerade would've been weird and would've made no sense at all. This upbeat, doo-wop version of All I Ask of You was fresh, and made a lot of people I know want to see the show because the Boys harmonized so well.

For anyone that liked the JBz performance: you can watch it on the GILG site.

I saw the show live and when the Jersey Boys sang everyone near me thought it was a joke and laughed throughout the performance. When I saw the show on TV the other night, I can see they were serious. It wasn't as bad as when I heard it the first time. Just a bad choice of songs for them to sing.

Was it me, or did Leann Womack look like the Lancome Lady from Mad TV?

I'm just saying, I didn't feel it should've been performed in that context. It was a joke. I'm entitled to my opinions as your opinions also are entitiled to you.
