Associated Press is POSITIVE.

They really enjoyed the book and the cast.

CINDERELLA Reviews

Long before its two and a half hours run out, it is clear that all that is right and appealing about this “Cinderella” cannot completely make up for what is wrong — the new script by Douglas Carter Beane.

Aw, I'm dying to see this but I don't think I can possibly get to NYC any time soon. Glad the reviews aren't terrible.

I always look forward to see what pull quotes they use.

I love how you think we shouldn't put faith in the critics' written word, but should instead put faith in yours.

Might a critic sway opinion? Sure, that's their job. It's an individual's responsibility to determine whether their words are worth listening to. An astute person, knows what kinds of things make or break a production for them.

Will I go? Highly doubtful. I didn't like the original R&H's Cinderella, and from ALL of the reports - no one has said anything to change my mind. MAYBE if my kids wanted to go, but they have no desire -- and they don't read reviews.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Yeah, after reading the NY Theatre review, I'm really glad that we aren't seeing this. The changes are terrible. Why couldn't Beane make a couple of changes, not a majority of the story?

I never knew New York Times was written Wall Street Journal.

NY TIMES: Ouch.

Anyone wanna take a guess at what they'll try to use from that?

I really wish they'd replace Brantley...he's been writing such non reviews lately. I guess I'd call this kind of mixed leaning toward negative but it's almost like he didn't have much of an opinion at all.

I thought the same thing, it wasn't much of a review more like a recap?

I can't even bring myself to call that a review. Brantley NEEDS to go.

"Who cares what I think, kids are going to force their parents into making this a success," he seems to be writing. "Why bother?"

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. Villagevoice.com says it's pretty entertaining despite jarring tonal clashes.

It's a sad state of things over at the Times when Isherwood is far and away the better reviewer and he too is awful. It's also sad that as of late I'm noticing that the Wall Street Journal has better reviews.

Only USA Today and AP are using real title "Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA" It's no longer "and".
Just wanted to mention that. I guess producers wanted to be hip

They already are spreading this phrase from AP all over their facebook, twitter, instagram, and tumblr.

"Pure magic! Broadway's new Cinderella crackles with sweetness and freshness." -AP

Isnt that a bit of a stretch as to what the review actually said?

I think it'll sell well through the tourist season and once word of mouth is out that this ain't really "Cinderella", we'll wave bye bye next winter.

Still, Brantley's review left me more intrigued to see the spectacle for myself than all the shallow praise I read online.
