I've had my tickets for a while, and am as excited to see it as I was the day I purchased them.
I'm having a "girls-night-out", and tiaras could be involved.
Decided to stop reading the reviews. I like what I like.

I think some of the negative reviews fail to recognize something very important-- R&H are so incredibly well respected for their work, particularly their song work, and it is born from that respect that we even care to see this production at all. The Cinderella story itself certainly isn't enough to get us in the door. So the creative team had a challenge-- how do we create a show using the respected elements that people love (the songs) but make the production exist as a whole, as a fully realized piece of theatre. In many ways its like putting together a puzzle.
It isn't fair, in my opinion, to act as if either a) the creative team could have scrapped the boundaries established by R&H in their score, or B) the producers should have merely just ignored that this was a desirable product, despite it's imperfections from the outset.
The fact is people want this show. They want Cinderella, and they want R&H attached. I think the production did a remarkable job of making something out of something else. It's very different, very creative, and while it certainly isn't perfect by any means, it's just so commendable. And I was very entertained. And I, for one, am glad that bold decisions were made, whether people like them or not. Boldness is rare in revivals. This of course is all just my opinion.

Posted: 3/4/13 at 7:18pmWell said, PatrickDennis. A few weeks ago, someone remarked to me that he didn't see how this show could sell without star casting. I replied by saying that I thought the show had two stars, one named Richard Rodgers, the other named Oscar Hammerstein. I think that ticket sales are proving that to be the case.

I went to the show this weekend with my Mom and sisters and we all loved it! the singing, dancing were all first rate and i even cried twice! the costumes and sets were amazing! i gotta think that Laura is a shoe-in for a Tony, Santino too. Everyone who sang a note or danced a step was first notch too, especially Phumzile Sojola (lord pinkleton)who i never even heard of before. whoever the casting director is should be very proud.
The crowd was a nice mix of old/young, though i cant understand why you would take a 2 year old and i saw a bunch of them and they cried during the scary scenes, kinda annoying. the audience response though... from laughter, to oooohs and ahhhs seemed to be louder then any show ive seen in recent memory. and most of the women in the audience (including my sisters and I) wore tiaras or sparkly headbands. It was like a big party!
After seeing it, alot of the complaints that have been tossed around here seem really silly if not downright dumb.
1) the set are cheap...especially the trees... I did not think that at all We were right up front and agreed it all looked pretty magical
2) Santino is not handsome enough. he is soo cute! plus, funny and what a great voice! we all thought he was perfect
3)finebydesign who kept yapping that the show whould be a failure, they couldnt sell, they curtained off seats in the balcony, well every seat was filled and i didnt see any curtains in the balcony.
4) Too Modern, PC. this didnt bother me at all and i usually cant stand when politics are thrown in your face, or when they feel they have to modernize a show for todays audience. Alot of the modern stuff was really funny! The town crier got a bit annoying after awhile though(my Mom said he sounded like Stalin lol) but it wasnt throwned in your face
A couple of tiny complaints... they really shouldnt sell the ticket behind the conducter. my sister got stuck behind him and it was soo distracting and shes tall, it kind of ruined it for her. and horsemens costumes were a way too revealing! Leave something for the imagination guys!
I have a feeling this will run for a long time. Im sure Laura is in such demand that she will not stay for over a year, and i cant imagine anyone, anywhere being any better then her.
A SOLID A!

You are correct about no more seats being curtained off. During previews, rows K-R in the rear mez were not for sale, but those seats are now being sold, I think for $35/seat or something like that.
Finebydesign had alot to say about the show before the first preview. Now, not so much.

we cant blame FINEBYDESIGN, RAISEDONMUSICALS. Crow tastes awfully bad!
Actually i saw FINEBYDESIGN post on that "why we love theater but trash it" post, she said she trashes things to make her feel good about herself. thats sad.
