Is Sherri Edelen the only character actress in D.C.? Every time I read about a musical there with a role for an older woman, she's inevitably playing it. I've heard rumors she's playing Rose in Signature's GYPSY in the fall too.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Sherri Edelen is certainly the go-to choice for musical character parts at Signature. Donna Migliaccio used to get many such roles at Signature, but for whatever reason she has not for a while.
Sorry, after seeing FOLLIES at Signature years ago (a total desecration), and the recent poorly-directed KC/Broadway revival, I've had just about enough of Mr. Schaefer. He's right up (there or down there) with Rob Ashford. Back to the bush leagues, boys!
The consensus was that Eric Schaeffer did a terrific job with the recent production of Folllies, but reasonable persons can, of course, disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed Signature's production of Company. The cast, especially Matthew Scott, Sherrir Edelen, and Erin Weaver, were marvelous, and the staging worked nicely.
I saw it last week and was surprised to say that for a show that I have previously not loved, I enjoyed it a lot. Erin Weaver nailed Not Getting Married Today and Matthew Scott turned in a good leading Bobby. The cast is solid. I think you'll enjoy it.
