She spells her name C-Y-N-D-I! It's not Cindi or Cindy or any other way you want to F*CK it up. She made history at the Tonys last night so you can at least give her that respect.
I mean people can spell Katharine McPhee right.
I'm so happy this piece of history was made last night.
She is an admirable lady-she is one of a kind and really stays true to herself and stands up for what she believes in. I enjoy her music and admire her seeming honesty and message of tolerance.
I hope she continues writing for the Theater! She has a gift. She may need some work lyrically, but she can really write an infectious melody.
If her first score is this good, just imagine what her second score could be!

I'm happy for her too, I grew up listening to her music in the 80's, but the score to Kinky Boots is pretty bland and underwhelming. I think Matilda should have won on quality, but giving it to an unknown Brit wouldn't have been near as much fun as watching a beloved American Pop icon win. But then that's not what the Tony's is supposed to be about.

She needs her Oscar now. How about the next Bond Song?
Tim Minchin isn't an "unknown Brit" - he's a popular Australian who's raising his profile here in the States.
And I love Cyndi, was touched by how sincerely she appreciated her award last night. It was a true highlight of the broadcast. But, lord no - the Brits just proudly got Bond themes back and "Skyfall" was the best one in a generation. Americans need to leave 007 alone and leave that to the experts.

KINKY BOOTS (mostly) falls flat on disc. But it's electric in the theatre. There are some fantastic numbers, especially History of Wrong Guys and Soul of a Man. So happy for her - definitely my favorite musical of the season.
Maybe it's just me, but I have been in love with 'Land of Lola' for the last few days.

And to me, it was the exact opposite of that.
Like most scores, there are some electric numbers and some clunkers.
Actually, the opening number IMO is dreadful. "The most beautiful thing in the world is shoes??"
And "Not My Father's Son" is wonderful, but it could have used a little editing.
When I went down the list of pop songwriters attempts on broadway , they are probably better than average success rate.
Looks like next season will have a quite a few more than usual. And not just writing, Jimmy Buffet failed to get his musical to broadway, but is producing "Big Fish" coming to broadway next season.
Not headed to broadway (yet), John Mellencamp and Stephen King's "Ghost brothers of darkland county" is touring the country.

I'd like to see her in a show. Any suggestions for things she could do?
And she should have been Ms Lovett over Patti, the story goes she was amazing in the audition.
I would like to see someone write an original starring role for her in a Broadway musical.
Next Tony for Cyndi: Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
EDIT: By the way, she now has an Emmy, Tony, and Grammy (not all for performing, but still, they are all competitive wins, not honorary) ...
So write that Oscar-winning Best Song, Cyndi, and you'll have your EGOT!
