While not exactly theater, I’d consider this theater-adjacent news. A staple in the theater district for my entire life, at least I’m truly going to miss this place.

Lot of great memories here. They hate her, so the Post wouldn’t mention it, but I believe Hillary was a long time patron and partial to tequila and seltzer on the rocks.

Their crepes were amazing, this one hurts.
Any other similar bistros in the theater district that someone can recommend?

I first went there in the mid-'80's, and it's one of the only theatre district restaurants I go to east of 9th Ave (otherwise I venture into the hellscape that is Times Square only to get into and out of Broadway theatres). It has been a favorite pre-theatre dinner (or brunch!) spot for me, as well as a place to grab a drink and nosh post-theatre. Because of its proximity to the Belasco and Hudson Theatres, cast members from shows often go there after a show, too. I'm going to miss this one, and its closing is a great loss to theatre-goers and the theatre community as well.

It has been rolling steadily downhill in recent years but this is sad news. Some great memories surrounding a lot of happy times in my life.

I loved it for so many year. It was a mainstay for Sunday brunch before hitting a matinee. As for alternatives, I had a solid NYE dinner at the revived West Bank Cafe before going to Jak Malone's show. One of the great things about Cafe Un Deux Trois was there were enough gluten free options to satisfy my GF friends, and one of the house signature cocktails is the tasty "Operation Sangria" ("You know, a little red wine, a little fizzy pop, great for a hot day!"). After speaking to one of the WBC co-owners, he's told me that starting this week, about "90%" in his words of the menu can be made gluten free including breads, buns, and pasta. So if someone was looking for another good bet, I'd recommend WBC. But losing the cafe will be a punch to the gut.

Very sad - it has long been a staple for my group.

I’ve been to the Brooklyn diner, but it is not as good. I will be arriving in New York tomorrow for one week therefore would appreciate any recommendations from my fellow theatre patrons for a good breakfast around 44th and sixth, which is where we are staying. Thanks.

Right there: Red Flame Diner, 44th & 6th, just east of 6th. Good all around but the Shrimp Salad is world class. (And yes I realize some may not consider that breakfast.)
