Can we please stop all the stupid "racist/racism" threads? (The ones based on legitimate concerns are okay.)

I don't know if people are just trying to faux-agitate -- throw up a "this is racist" comment and see what happens -- but these are really annoying. Yes, I mean the recent Ragtime question. I assume this is a joke because it's so idiotic. Every year certain actors who some people think deserve a nom don't get nominated -- some of them are white, some are black, sometimes they're even another race! Only the black actor from Race got nominated, ditto for Superior Donuts. That means nothing vis a vis race, and neither does the Ragtime noms/non-noms.

And then there's the person who likes to post "This thread is racist." Whenever I've seen that, the thread (original comment) was not racist, and sometimes doesn't even have anything to do with race. If you get your kicks making stupid accusations just to see people react, get a life.

You know, there are actual issues related to race in the theater. If we're not discussing them and you can't make a legitimate argument for something possibly being perceived as racist, could you not bring up the subject.

It's such an existential thing because when saying "this is racist" about a post or thread that is not, it's not only funny but it becomes racist, and racism isn't funny.

It's not so much saying you think it's racist that makes it racist, but the presumption of racism of a certain race that only perpetuates racism in an industry where race is very commonly looked upon as racist.
