This is intriguing.

When I first saw this, I said "you've got to be kidding." But started to think about it and I see no reason, based on the character, that it wouldn't work for the integrity of the classic.
That's very exciting. Will anyone here be seeing it? I would if I could.

Did they get permission from the licensing company to do this?
That is a very interesting concept. I can totally see it working in the context that Zachary is a gay choreographer and Casey was his lover/protege. It doesn't require any stretch of the imagination.

Many of these performers are university students at Queen's University.
I see nothing wrong with this as long as they got permission. Though most community theaters/colleges are typically forced to turn Larry into Laurie. Also, if they're doing the original choreography, I wonder how the finale worked with 11 guys & 8 girls?

They DO all look pretty much the same at the end so maybe that's not an issue.
Cassie has a line referring to being taught about using diaphragm as a method of birth control, "I thought a diaphragm was up here, where you breathe." I suppose they would just give the line to someone else...but Donna McKechnie singing that line on the original album is one of my favorite moments, because of the ridiculous up-the-octave singing. Charlotte d'Amboise singing it down the octave on the revival recording was lame.
