So excited!
Awesome!
CAN'T. WAIT. Seeing this on stage was the highlight of last year for me. :)
I love this so much, and I assume she did this everywhere - but because I was sitting in the front row when I saw it, Carrie came down and threw the sparkly things on me. Good times.
I was sitting second row and didn't get any sparkles *tear*

Had such a good time at this last January. I was such a doofus at the stage door....I thought she was talking to the guy next to her when she was actually talking to me...but she was very sweet and still covered in glitter.
Bummers... I was hoping they would show the entire show as it was performed in full -- one straight film of her show.
Unfortunately, it is being intercut with archival footage so it'll go from the stage show to footage to stage show to footage. Whenever this is done, the show becomes an abridged version from its original form.
Oh well. Better this than nothing.

The night I went people were pissy because she took a long time to come out because she had a guest. People left in a huff and she eventually came out with her guest - Dustin Hoffman. He didn't stop to sign but he did say hello to me which more than I ever thought I'd get from someone as great as he is.
Oh well. Better this than nothing.
Pretty much.

Once it airs people will cut together the performance leaving out the interviews & stuff.
I was told that though the entire performance was indeed filmed, all of the show won't be seen in the documentary. They use segments from the show to introduce the archival footage and certain portions of the show didn't make the final cut. Only the sections which could incorporate the footage was used.

What!? WTF! Hopefully they'll release a DVD of the whole show.
Here's hoping that happens.
Several years ago this occurred with ELAINE STRITCH: AT LIBERTY. There was an HBO documentary (ala Carrie Fisher's show) that combined footage from her show with archival footage of Elaine Stritch.
Then there was a filming of the entire show (filmed in London). This was released on DVD.

Are we sure the airing is more documentary than show because all of the promo I've seen has all been from the show with not even an inkling about it being mostly interviews?
Anyone watch this last night? I missed it. Will HBO be re-airing it soon?
It is available on HBO On Demand starting today.
I was pretty pleased with the show. Of course there were some cuts but for the most part they aired the show rather than just interplicing clips of it with interviews with Carrie.
It was more of the show than archival footage. They more or less edited in some video to go along with her stories. They didn't cut away to anything, really. Then again, seeing the show on TV was the only way I saw it.

According to something I have of the show they cut about 30 minutes of material.

There are several two-to-five minutes segments...not sure if they're edited out of the show or just showcased..plus a nearly hour-long interview with Debbie Reynolds on HBO on Demand.
The interview is great...Debbie nearly breaks down a few times while discussing Carrie's illness. The interviewer can be a bit douchey, but she's a fountain of information and stories.
There's also a very brief dedication to her dad filmed a few months before his death...he's very, very fragile and it's quite moving.
I didn't get a chance to see this live and was extremely excited to see it on HBO. I was thoroughly underwelmed. The show had hardly anything to do with her addiction struggles or even the reasons behind them. I was constantly waiting for her to tell a crazy story involving her addiction and it never happened. Sure it was funny, just not what it could have been...

^ I suggest you get her audiobook of the show then. Much more in depth than the show.
Damn, I don't have On Demand so if anyone happens to have it online I'd love it. Thanks!
One of my favorite bits from the show was where she talks about her mother's closet and how she went in one end as her mother and came out the other as Debbie Reynolds. That was sadly cut
Anyone know if this will be on netflix?

throughly enjoyed watching this on HBO. i had scene Wishful Drinking at The Geffen in LA and thought it was charming and very funny - and totally brutally honest. There was such a confidence to Carrie in the HBO special that was utterly charming. Liked it live and think I liked even better on TV.
The World of Wonder guys did a great job of directing.
Its worth catching on DVR/On Demand
