Didnt it metion in an article last week in the NY Times that it looked like it was heading back to Broadway?
I'm sure if there had been such a mention there would have been a lot more talk about it on this board!

calling famebroadway02...haha.
I wonder if they'll get Marin Mazzie back since N2N is closing...

"Can a revival of “Carrie,” the 1988 horror musical whose name is a byword for failure on Broadway, be far behind? Don’t laugh. Rumors to that effect are already circulating. "

Hopefully! I love the idea of Marin in that role. What I want to know is who is Wes playing? I can't see him as Billy Nolan or Tommy Ross.
That little throw-away mention in the NY Times isn't exactly saying the show is headed back - merely that there are rumours of its return (which there have been for at least twenty years)
I don't think this topic could get any more boring at this point.
Then Newintown dont read it.....problem solved
And Michael Bennett the fact that another reading is happening is a good sign that the show is still up and breathing and pushing on.
I'm curious if, as rumoured, another producing team has picked it up since the last reading....
Well someone has to be behind the next reading or intrested in the next reading for it to be happening at all.
I think the reading would only be happening if there either a new producing team behind it or substantially new material added since the last reading in November. Unless this is some kind of backer's audition.
It does seem like the best option if they are really trying to bring this back and make it work is to try to find a regional theatre to mount it...
I know this has been asked before but can someone tell me who took part in the last reading?

Thanks for the tip, songanddanceman2, it's extremely helpful. Particularly in an open forum...
Cool. Still think an Actor's Equity Fund concert is the best way to go.

I hate to be that person, but last time was a reading- not a workshop.
Although, that raises the question: will it be a reading or a workshop this time around? I know its rare that after ONE reading they'd immediately result in a workshop, but I think a workshop might actually be more effective. Or even concert style- a la Heathers.
I hope that this happens! I want to know all the dirty details, I'm already impatient- it's been almost a year now haha
I would be surprised if they are doing a workshop. Doing a semi-staged musical exploration isn't going to help much unless they are springing for really big bucks to explore how they would possibly do the special effects.
They need to keep focusing on the script and score...
What is the difference between a reading and a workshop? I've always been curious.

For one, the pay scale. Under the staged reading guidelines all participants are entitled to transportation reimbursement, that's it. A workshop is a fully contracted deal.
The reading is meant to be just that, a reading. Very minimal staging, no choreography, book in hand, no props, no costumes, no scenery. A workshop can be much more elaborate. It is meant to be the next step in development, beginning to see some staging and choreography, minimal props and costumes, etc, etc.
