So I am putting a list of cast recording I need to buy and I wanted your help. I own alot of recordings but I am wanting to expand my collections. Just add things that you think and I'll add it to my list. Here is a link to what I own if you want to look at what I have...
My Cast Recordings
Right off the top of my head:
CAROUSEL
The OBCR of CHICAGO starring Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera, and Jerry Orbach.
SWEET CHARITY
GRAND HOTEL (perhaps not a must-have but a great addition to any collection of cast recordings)
MACK & MABEL OBCR (I think it's one of the best of the major flops from Mandelbaum's book)
WONDERFUL TOWN (both the Roz Russell and the Donna Murphy version)
Big River
Chicago (Original Cast)
Guys and Dolls (92' Revival)
The Little Mermaid
Little Shop of Horrors (New Cast Recording)
Mary Poppins
The Rocky Horror Show
Tommy
Urinetown
The Wizard of Oz (98' Cast Recording)
Xanadu
You're A Goodman Charlie Brown (99' Recording)
Ooo! I love the Eartha Kitt Wizard of Oz recording. Everyone should have that.
Caroline, or Change
Grey Gardens
Sweeney Todd
Into the Woods
I concur with the Mack and Mabel statement.
Oh wow, I can't believe I missed CAROLINE, OR CHANGE. Now there is a must-have if there ever was one.
The CANDIDE OBCR is another must-have for a solid cast album collection.
SHE LOVES ME is a nice addition to any collection, not a must-have by any means, but it has a sweet score and Barbara Cook shines as Amelia.
I very much disagree with the new LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS merits a place in someone's collection, the original Off-Broadway album is definitive.
The new LITTLE SHOP cast recording is painful to listen to.
The original Off-Broadway cast recording is *the* one to have.
Also, add ANNIE WARBUCKS to your list. It is proof that a sequel's score could outshine a classic musical's original score.
Spitfire Grill
Once On This Island
I Love You Because
Frogs
Oliver (London revival)
The Scarlet Pimpernel
to name a few.
Also Evita the white album
I will also echo the sentiments for Caroline, Or Change. I HIGHLY recommend the OBCR of The Most Happy Fella. The score is almost note complete and preserves amazing performances from Robert Weede, Jo Sullivan, Art Lund and the great Susan Johnson.
Other "must-haves" for me include:
Kismet (OBC)- Alfred Drake in his prime
On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (OBC)- Barbara Harris makes this one a lot of fun
The Grass Harp (OBC)- Barbara Cook and belter Karen Morrow
Bells Are Ringing (OBC)- Judy Holliday is a riot
House of Flowers (OBC)
Fiorello! (OBC)
Darling of the Day (OBC)
I Had a Ball (OBC)- must-have if only to hear Karen Morrow belt the title track to high heaven!
Ain't Misbehavin' (OBC)

You have a great collection. You actually have a few I don’t have that I wish I had, but I have to suggest/insist you get the Chess Concept Recording. As far as I’m concerned no collection is complete without it!!!! Also I love LaChiusa, and would suggest Hello Again, Wild Party, or See What I Wanna See as your first LaChiusa album.
I'd add in Side Show if only for the magic that is Alice and Emily.
A guide I prepared a few years ago givs you a good checklist of 100 shows...

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Might I also suggest:
Ragtime - 2CD (some new lyrics and Judy Kaye)
[title of show]
Gypsy - Angela Lansbury
Hello, Dolly! - OBC
Sound of Music - OBC
Rocky Horror Show - Film, 2000/2001 Revival and Roxy
Sunday in the Park With George - London
"Also Evita the white album "
Is this the original London cast recording with Julie Covington? Because this is an absolute must, even though I see you already have four versions of Evita.

gilliane-
It's a studio album. Ellen Page (I think) is on the OLCR. "The White Album" is more of a concept album, since New Argentina and Don't Cry For Me are both in Act I.
Yes, I see now I am getting my Evitas confused - there are so many of them! The original London cast recording is with Elaine Page, the album I'm talking about (which has a white cover, which is one of the reasons I was confused) pre-dates that, a 1976 studio recording with Julie Covington and Paul Jones. I love that.
Any and all LEZ MIZ recordings one can get their grubby little hands on
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA OLC
Any and all INTO THE WOODS recordings one can get their grubby little hands on
RENT movie soundtrack, but only because Rosario and Tracie are better IMO
The complete EVITA with Patti and Mandy

Not familiar with "All American". Besides Ray Bolger what does it have to recommend it?

All American has one of the most beautiful of Broadway songs, "Once Upon A Time" and is worth it just for that number.
Other albums:
Greenwillow
Carnival
Flahooley
Gentlemen Prefer Blonds (of the revival titled LORILI(sp?)
Take Me Along (Jackie Gleason sings)
Tick Tick BOOM!
Thanks everyone, I will add those I don't already have to my list! I'll keep looking at this to add new ones.
