Uh who said she is homophobic? just because she has a certain faith? READ below and get the facts before we start carelessly labeling. She said NOTHING about gays. Hyper-sensitivity and its finest.
Here is an excerpt from EW.com (Entertainment Weekly)
EW: One last question. A lot of your fans were upset that you listed Living Proof Ministries' Beth Moore — who says homosexuality is 'scary' — as one of your idols on the American Idol website. Are people right to think you're anti-gay?
MANDISA:It breaks my heart to hear that's what people thought of me. I hate nobody. I absolutely live my life treating others the way I would want to be treated. I live my life being guided by love.
AND FURTHERMORE:
Lets clear up this Mandisa bizness.

I say she is homophobic. If that is who she is, so be it. She should either own it or deny it...she has done neither.
You dont have to admit to hating something to be phobic. It also means fear, loathing and distaste.
I looked for a review of the LA AGYG and couldnt find anything.
But who says she is ANY of that?? do we know her? no we dont. so we can assume all we want as long as the day is. you are judging her based on YOUR interpretation of her surface comments. Homophobes are judging gays based on surface things such as sexuality and the bible. in that case are u any better than the homophobes? its all uninformed judgement in the end.

Mister Matt, that may have been the most not needed post I've read. It's all theoretical.
Back to the topic at hand - I think Kellie Pickler could pull off Nellie Forbush in SOUTH PACIFIC at the Bucks County Playhouse.
"Based on what I believe, I'm not an advocate for [being gay], so it's nothing I would take part in" (speaking about performing at a gay event.)
I am going by her own words. Sounds like she doesnt want to be around gay people...fear? loathing? disgust? It's gotta be something, and it sounds like homophobia.
I have arachnophobia...that doesnt mean that you cant like spiders.
Some gay people smell and have potty mouths. Maybe that's why she doesn't want to be around them.

Who couldnt?

Does not make her a homophobe at all. is she disgusted? does she loathe? does she fear? DOU EVEN KNOW? she just may not agree. BIG difference. again , its all uninformed judgement in the end.
ok, now back to the stage. wink.lol.

Well, Eve Plumb ("Jan Brady") played Nellie at the Bucks County Playhouse a few years back, so she'd clearly have some big shoes to fill.

Actually, that IS a homophobic statement. Not wanting to be around gay people is the same as my not wanting to be around spiders:
Homophobe
Arachnaphobe
...but this thread has been jacked enough.
I saw Greg Brady in Victor/Victoria. He did a respectable job.
But did you see Maureen McCormick as Wendy in PETER PAN opposite Ruta Lee?
Perhaps Ann B. Davis can play Mme. Armfeldt?
Not Ruta Lee...Rula Lenska!
I'd like to cast all of them into Hell.
<==Regan will help.
Katherine as Elphaba or Maureen would be awesome. I would love to see Chris as Roger. Kellie might be a cute Penny from Hairspray. Ace could definitely be in Altar Boyz.

im not sure why everyone is suggesting katharine as elphaba.
i completely agree with everyone who said katharine is brilliant and needs a shrine. a big big shrine. (well i said that) but she has a much more legit voice than the role of elphaba requires, in my opinion.
id love to see her play polly in crazy for you

Paris was actually already in "The Wiz" in high school as Dorothy.
I think Katharine's voice is too pretty for Eponine or Elphaba, actually. But I think she could be a great vamp actress. I just don't know what in.
Call me crazy, but I think that Kellie has enough of an edge to her voice to possibly pull off Eponine, although she would need to loose the cutesy act and get serious. Not that she could belt it of course. Don't ask me why, but I've always wondered what a country singer would do to that role. But whether or not she can act the part is a different story altogether, though. But she could definately sing it, I think.
The rest I don't know.
Ok everyone. Time to bash me, Eponine fans.
Kellie could MAYBE pull off Amber, but that's about it.

I'd love to see a Broadway theme week this season, as I'm getting real tired of the current themes, and it'd be great to hear Chris sing "One Song Glory."
