Isn't it a little odd that they're announcing the cast...3 days before it opens? Does this show not require rehearsals? I've never seen it, so this confuses me. Can anyone explain?
The official casting notice for a show usually comes out a good deal after everyone has been cast. Often this is due to incompletion of some people's contracts, other times...I dunno, laziness?
Exactly. Most shows have already been in reheasals for weeks before an offical FULL CAST LIST is released to the media/public, etc.
Is this tour gonna crash and burn or what?

ruprecht - please read the post called "Will Chase on Hi Fidelity Closing" before you make another immature comment about something that hasn't even started touring yet.
Some people haven't seen the show and that comment can put a negative light on if they will want to see the show when it comes to their town.

Of course I will back home during Chita's run in Cincy and will be in production for a show during her Cleveland run.

are we going to keep posting in double
I think the question of whether or not this will do well on the road is a fair one. I'll never forget see Patti LuPone's Matters of the Heart on tour in Seattle a couple of years ago and having just 200 or so people in the theatre of 3000.
People can be huge Broadway names, but they just don't draw a crowd on the road. I saw the show on Broadway, and enjoyed it a lot, but the short New York run proved, sadly, that there just wasn't a huge demand for this. While I wish everyone involved the best, I just don't know how they're going to attract people. The whole show is about the history of New York theatre, a topic only a very select niche know about out of town.
If this show is coming to your city, everyone, SEE IT! Chita Rivera is one of the last living legends of Broadway. She is a *fantastic* storyteller and performer, and to see this generous woman on stage is truly a privilege. And absolutely go meet her at the stage door afterward, if you'd like. She is a kind woman with a frisky, fun personality to boot. Enjoy the show, enjoy Chita, and spread the word!
Yea! This is something I'm not going to miss! I don't care how many people come, its CHITA FREAKIN' RIVERA!!
I am going to try to catch it while I am hone in Cincy...

Me too! The only show I was interested in seeing in that Curtain Call series...
I'm going to see it when it stops in Philly this week.
So excited; I really, really look up to Chita as an aspiring stage performer.
It'll be fabulous
I saw it here in NYC. Chita was INCREDIBLE...and the rest of the performers weren't so bad either! Chita's a wonderful storyteller, whether through words, song, or dance.
