For anyone who saw On the Record or will see Beauty and the Beast, Ashely Brown would be perfect. She's a wonderful talent, very much a Disney girl (but not one that does the crappy Disney Channel movies), and her rendition of "Part of Your World" was sensational! She's also quite young - a recent grad of CCM.

I agree with colleen_lee, I want ariel to be an undiscovered talent. there are plenty of people out there worthy of the role. let someone new originate the role.
She has missed so many performances for illness and then, when finally recovering, comes back for a week only to go on vacation?
How about skipping your effing vacation to try and actually *DO* your job?
To perform in a smash is a priviledge. But it is ALSO a job. In so many ways, it's much like the men and women that sit in cubicles. Sometimes you just don't feel like it, but guess what, you're obligated. So get up there and make people believe you really, TRULY earned your damn Tony Award.
I refuse to see this until she's gone. I won't support someone with her "high and mighty" attitude.

How is Emily Skinner's attendance record any better than Sara's?
I hear after prematurely dropping out of On the Record she was cut from the running for Ursula. Shame, as she's quite talented, but it appears her career is slowly falling down the path of obscurity.
Last I heard, Liz McCartney played her in the past reading. Celia as Ariel, Cheyenne as Eric.
I'm going to third, fourth and fifth Billy Porter for Ursula. He would rock that role like no one's business.
" Sometimes you just don't feel like it, but guess what, you're obligated. "
Guess what. People in cubicles can sit there with colds and whatnot and not worry about an audience who's paying to see them. BIG difference.
Boycott it all you want - it's your right. But you're doing that on false information, hearsay and 2nd hand opinions. Have you yourself witnessed "high and mighty" behavior?

I'm pretty much addicted to this thread, apparently I"m a lot more excited about the LIttle Mermaid than I realized, lol. Is there a projected date for it's arrival on Broadway? Any news where it will be previewing? Hopefully Chicago! Updated On: 8/23/05 at 12:44 AM

what age range are we talking about because she can't be too yound to be paired with Cheyenne because that would be weird. If they plan on picking disney star (ie. Christy Carlson Romano as Belle) then my vote would be for Anneliese van der Pol
what about carole shelley as ursula? she sounds evil enough on the wicked soundtrack.
i dissapprove of eden cause she's kindof fake...at least in brooklyn she was. kerry butler seems the obvious choice - but i didnt like what she did in little shop either.
what about sutton foster? is she completely out of the picture for this role?
Tenme por lo que soy, por lo que puedo ser, y si te importo hoy, tenme nena, o vete!
oh my. Bette as ursula...now theres one ock with attitude!
