Wow... although I received an email offer for discounted Cats tickets at $99 I noticed that there were no matinee tickets. I am taking my 6 year old daughter. She goes to bed listening to the music from the musical and although eager to attend even with a 7pm curtain she would never make it through to the end. OK - scrap the discount and I'll just purchase full price tickets. I want her to have a good experience. WOW...$199 for orchestra tickets! Do I feel old since I remember going to see Phantom years ago and noticed when the price jumped from $45 to $55 for orchestra tickets.

$199 is crazy. I'd wait. There will be some better discounts soon. I don't think the demand will be there.

I agree. It's a revival. I saw CATS back in the 90s when I was a kid. Family sat in orchestra but from what I recall back then those seats were $65 from the box office (and I guess $33 from TKTS?) If you can, try to get an aisle seat on orch since I recall from the old production the cats walked all over the orchestra aisles during parts of the performance.

Cats was one of the first shows I saw as a kid. My parents took me and I'll risk the abuse for admitting it but I loved it...still do. I really want to take my daughter. When my parents asked me what I would like as a gift for my birthday I said "I'd love tickets to take my daughter to Cats" and that's what they gave me. My mom said...the 10th row orchestra ticket (on the aisle in the center) for Cats is for your birthday and the second ticket is Happy Father's Day to take your daughter. I am very excited to take her. She is super enthusiastic to listen to the music as she goes to bed each night. Yes, ridiculously overpriced especially for a revival but hey - it is supply and demand. If people are willing to pay then that's what they charge. I'm sure I could wait but I am eager to go and will be there on August 7 with her. It will be her first Broadway show! She has been to small shows and of course the Wiggles concert so I know she will be able to sit and watch as well as how to act in a theater.

We go to shows and chat here for fun - why not have a sense of humor.
Yes, I do love my child. The tickets were also a gift and the gift was something I probably wouldn't want to pay for myself and that was the point of them being a gift. Enjoy something you might not necessarily get for yourself.
Not likely that she will fall asleep because that was the purpose in paying extra for the matinee performance.
I hope you have a wonderful time! Since you love the show so much, I really do wish you a great time. A lot of people on these boards seem ignorant to the fact that people have differing opinions from them, and it is their (possibly unintended) way of stating their own opinions while crushing someone else's that mystifies me.

Regardless of the price, I think it's so sweet that you're taking your daughter to a show that clearly has sentimental memories for you and your family----those memories will only grow and stay with her, like they did with you! I wish my dad had surprised me with tickets to a show when I was younger!

Not surprised that Roxy does not like Cats. Respect his opinion to not like it. His comment does not crush mine.
Lately I have been requesting events rather than physical stuff when my parents want to give me a gift. It has been far more rewarding because I carry the memories (pun intended I guess on this thread) with me every day. At first my mom made a face when I mentioned the tickets to Cats. I quietly laughed inside - don't ask someone what they would like as a gift if you are going to make a face when they announce it. Far better than something that gets thrown in a corner and has no usefulness. I even said - I would be happy even if I was gifted "act 1" (part of the ticket price).
I am really looking forward to seeing my daughter's face and expressions. She is conversational at her age and frequently talks about things she experienced. It is going to be fantastic.
Brian I always say people are entitled to their own opinion. My wife and I like Wildhorn Many despise him. We do not understand the hatred but it is there so nothing we can do about it but ignore it. Someone else opinion never swayed us one way or the other.
