re: Celebrities that you've seen other than at a show or at the stage door

Eh, the only person I can think of is Gregory Jbara...but it probably doesn't count since he was very close to the DRS theater.

I LOVE Leah, lamenting. That's awesome re: Celebrities that you've seen other than at a show or at the stage door She was kind of sassy when I met her at the Hairspray stagedoor. I told her I was a big fan of ASU and she said, "I was too." I didn't know if she was just joking around or bitter--but I laughed quietly (more like nervous laughter because I didn't want her to kill me, but I wanted her to know that I found it funny?)

...and then I found 5 dollars.

I met Orlando Bloom outside of a hotel one night when they were filming Elizabethtown here in Louisville. I also got autographs (but didn't get to talk to) Kirsten Dunst and Cameron Crowe on the same day.

One time when I was in the Pittsburgh airport I was standing 5 feet from Cedric the Entertainer at baggage claim.

Since I've lived in NY, I've seen too many to count. Since I've worked in retail in NY, (which only just happened this year) I've waited on Brooke Shields (had a long chat with her, she is VERY nice, incredibly beautiful, and tall as hell!), Cherry Jones (just this past friday) Leslie Uggams (yesterday - she said she and her daughter are heading off to do a production of Cinderella, I believe she said in Maine), Lorraine Bracco, Liev Schreiber, Molly Ringwald, Kathleen Chalfant (adorably sweet), Talia Balsam, and many others. That is the ONLY good thing about my job...LOL...
On the street over the years, I've seen Steve Martin, Liam Neeson, Steve Gutenberg (jogging shirtless in CP - woof!)...Elizabeth Berkley, Tyne Daly,,,and so many others.
I've been fortunate enough to get letters back from Tyne, Julie Andrews, Steven Sondheim, Carolee Carmello, and Tommy Tune.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Well, I don't live in NYC. But I know that people who live in NYC say that it's a regular thing to see celebrities walking around. But that doesn't stop me from listing my encounters BUAHAHA.

Ahem.

Caroline Rhea and Ben Curtis (The Dell Dude) outside of The Pillowman stagedoor. My cousins and I wound up standing in a huge circle talking with them as well as Jeff Goldblum, that was pretty cool and random. Ben was advertising his show and we kept him around for a good 15 minutes. I don't think he minded, though.

I've also seen Michael McKean and Hank Azaria walking around 45th (not together).

I sat next to Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs on a flight from London to NY for a week of shows I was aiming to see in NY on my bi-annual "pilgrammage" to NY. That really made my trip special and they were both so wonderful and pleasant.

I didnt really want to do the star struck thing as so many embarrass themselves and do in squirming fashion, but I asked for their autographs before we flew and was prepared to leave it at that. However, Idina asked me how I knew who she was and she said she was always surprised when a brit recognises her. Taye joked that noone ever knew who he was - even in NY.

I told her I'd seen her in Wicked the previous year. Thereafter we chatted further about theatre stuff and non-theatre stuff, often prompted by one of them. Both were delightful and made a long flight pass wonderfully.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins walking hand in hand at the boardwalk in Vancouver. The both smiled at me, probably cause I just stared at them in surprise. He had a giant cigar sticking out of his mouth.
Kirsten Dunst at my local movie theatre.
Minnie Driver at a park near my university.
Michelle Federer walking to DRS in NYC.
Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70's show) sitting right behind me at a Pearl Jam concert.

Kelli O'Hara literally running down Broadway in heels, talking on cell phone, about 30 minutes until curtain for Pajama Game. Talk about cutting it close! This was the Friday before the Tonys- I imagine fittings and rehearsals had something to do with it.

re: Celebrities that you've seen other than at a show or at the stage door

I've seen too many celebrities to name them all. Chances are that since I started going to Broadway shows back in 1974 I've seen well over a hundred people who would fit into the celebrity category. There are, however, some Celebrities whom I've had closer contact with over the years but I think to start listing them might seem a little bit like name dropping.
