Changing Avatars...

Well, I just wanted to throw out there that some of you changing your avatars has really thrown me... Broadway Concierge's change is most disconcerting. I'm also glad that some members here have gone back to their original (since I've been here) avatars. I'm so glad Dame's reclaimed that great Maggie Smith image.

Does anyone else wish the avatars would remain the same...or am I obsessing...?

I'd just as soon we not have avatars at all. I always start involuntarily imagining that people look like their avatars (if it's a picture of a person). So if I find the avatar obnoxious or off-putting in any way, it makes me instinctively dislike that person, through no fault of their own.

But it doesn't take me long to adjust to new avatars. Like, it takes me roughly until the second time I see it to adjust.

This is something that drives me BATTY but also something that I have learned to appreciate. I came to the Board during the SMASH days and there were always rotating Kyle memes in the avatars that were hilarious but disorienting at times. I sometimes think that an old poster with a new avatar is a new poster and being surprised to see no it's just Carlos or someone.

And I too am guilty of imagining posters to look like their avatars!

I agree. A manner of self-expression? I suppose. But they can also be an imposition on others.



I've blocked more than a few people for their avatars alone.

The idea of an avatar being an imposition is hilarious. Congratulations! You're hitting the heights again!

It bothers not me, and yet, I think I've only changed my avatar once the whole time I've been here. But I seldom change my profile pic on FB either.
